Went to this place because a friend had been there a couple of years ago and recommended it.

Well, it was abysmal !

There were four of us and we ordered the Meze. The portions were small, the taste of the starters ranged from tasteless to poorly seasoned. The fish course was pathetic. Whatever the fish was they served us was not only small, but was literally sliced in half and that what was given to us. Half a fish ! It would have barely been enough for one person, let alone four people. The meat course was equally inept in portion size. The taste of the lamb, beef (I think it was beef !) and chicken were extremely poor. We also had two bottles of wine which came with the Meze deal. We had red and it was the worst and most insipid vino I have ever had. I can honestly say that I would not even splash this supposed wine they served on a plate of chips.

Finally, the so-called entertainment was amateurish and bizarre. It all felt like we had been transported into the Twilight Zone.

At the end of the 'meal' we paid £36 per head. An utter ripoff.

Please take my advice and do not go to this awful, tasteless, and trite (there is a word that rhymes with this and you can use that as well) restaurant.

I left this place feeling sick and hungry at the same time.

I've been 2-3 times now, but no more. The entertainment has to be good and it is because the food is bad. Simple as that.

Saturday night at the Appollonia is really good fun, we found the waiting staff very friendly and amusing, the food (meze) really tasty and fresh (especially the fish) the house wine really good. The atmosphere is really good everyone having fun, great dj Andy, Greek singer really good and lovely dancer too. I would definitely recommend for a good night for all any age, even little ones, as always Greeks welcome family. We ate, sang, danced and enjoyed til very late.

Arranged to celebrate my mums 50th birthday at the appollonia. The staff were fantastic, very accommodating, warm, and freindly. Lost count of the number of free shots we had been given

we had a party of 17 and opted for the party a la cart menu. There was a great choice to chose from. The cost was £30 and includes 1/2 a bottle of wine.

Starters were massive.i have never seen so many prawns in a prawn cock tail. For the main I had a mixed grill and my parner had the lamb shank and they were both lovely. The potions are huge. You def get your moneys worth.

The entertainment was fantastic and the atmosphere was amazing. I will def go back to the appollonoa.

I absolutly loved it,

Went To Apollonia for a friends birthday. The food was surprisingly good. We had the meze, which was a selection of different Greek dishes. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with bright modern interior. The entertainment took me back to 20 years ago - the singer Bambos was fun and serenaded us with Tom Jones songs and Greek songs. The dj/ musician played a variety of music and kept us all dancing. The belly dancer was exceptionally good. Our waiter gave a very good service, but unfortunately I didn't get his name. The biggest let down was the prat behind the bar - Savvas- who not only tries to rip you off with the charging of drinks but is also very rude. If I was the owner of Apollonia I'd definitely not have someone like that working for me. As a one off I'd say it was a fun night. If you're going to Apollona - just watch out for the charges on the drinks and the idiot behind the bar.

I have to say it is quite a shame that you have to give this appalling restaurant a star rating to leave a comment. Because believe me my children can do a better job of entertainment and catering. I too as the lady beforehand, went to a Hen Night on 24/4/10 and I am soo sorry for the future bride as one of the main events in a girls life has been ruined by appalling service. Firstly we were seated near the toilet doors, not somewhere you want to be when eating. Then the waitress finally came and took our drinks order for them finally to be given to us an hour later yes and hour. My starter of Prawn cocktail sat under the lights near the toilet door for 15 min, then approx 1hour:45 min later the main was served, well I am still waiting for all the dish as there was no haloumi cheese. Which was pointed out to the waitress who went to find out an never came back. The dirty plates stayed on the table most the evening, and the desert trolley never made an appearance. We ordered 2 soft drinks which came to £4 on two occasions and on the third the price had gone up to £5. The entertainment if you like sythercizers and what sounds like someone in agony groaning down a mic then this is for you. The plate smashing you could not see unless you was one of the lucky few who was sat right on top of the tiny dancefloor and the silly man dancing with glasses on his head what was all that about. A very memorable evening for the wrong reasons. Needless to say I won't be going back I have better things to spend my hard earned £35 on!

Went there for a hen night last night, very disorganised, had to wait ages for both drink and food. Entertainment was poor and the layout of the restaurant means unless you are by the dance floor you can't see anything. Left before the disco started. This is the second time I have been to The Apollonia and was as unimpressed this time as I was last, shan't be visiting again, would rather go round the corner to the corinthian! Food was passable however didn't get everything that was on my order and the sweet trolley didn't come out. I feel even the one star I have given is to much!

The worst restaurant I have ever been in my life. I have never write such a review, but just couldn't stop myself. We had a party last night with 17 of my friends for mother's day. Where shall I start from!? They brough us whiskey full with water and the waiters were picked up the plates and the food off the table until the people was on the dance floor - no mater have you finished or not. After the first drink noone wanted to order another one. On the time of reservation they said us a price pretending the service charge is include and at the and of the party they asked us for another £3 for service.

This was the worst restaurant experience I have had in memory. Reading their menu online we were excited by the choice of dishes and looking forward to something a bit different to our more usual choice of Italian, Indian, Chinese or steakhouse. On arrival however we were presented with an A4 print out of a set menu for the day with no option of the usual menu. The set meal looked ok, perhaps a little bit pricey at £35 each so we were expecting food and wine of good quality. However we were bitterly disappointed. The food was clearly sourced from a bulk discount supplier, my prawn cocktail had fluorescent pink sauce that was very overpowering and my girlfriends humus based starter was grainy and tasteless. Worse was to come with the main courses, the veg was clearly from frozen packets and the roast potatoes were Aunt Bessies! My lamb was overcooked and very dry but the worst was the wine which was truly undrinkable.

Unfortunately the Apollonia restaurant also provided entertainment which was loud and annoying. The Greek singer felt like he belonged in Butlins, it was so bad that it became comical - especially when he sang Barry White with a synthesizer to lower his voice by a few octaves!

We left half way through our main course and despite only drinking half a glass of their wine, we both suffered from hangovers the following day!

I have never been motivated to write a review before but I felt robbed on this occasion. The Apollonia in Gants Hill is defiantly one to avoid!

I went to the Apollonia full of fear after reading this review but I had to reply as I can only say my experience was entirely different! The place is known for the 'party' atmosphere on weekends, its not fine dining nor do they pretend to be. We went as a party of 10 girls for a birthday & we were treated like queens! The waiters were very attentive despite the place being packed to full capacity (must have been atleast 150 people!) and we were given free shots atleast twice. We all had the meze & it was fresh, tasty & served within an expected 2 hr services for such a busy night. The wine we were offered was pinot grigio, nothing wrong with it, the entertainment was fantastic, catered for all ages as there was a such a mixture everyone was dancing & having a good time. We were the last to leave around 2am (depit it closes usually by 1am). Definately go if you want good greek food, great entertainment and its fab for a good girls night out. We'd def go back & all for £35, u wont get this anywhere else!

Having looked at the menu outside I was quite excited to be eating at Apollonia as it was my first visit to a greek restaurant and it was highly recommended. How wrong could anyone be!

After being seated the waiter asked for our drinks order without even giving us a drinks menu. Our drinks arrived and we were then sat there sipping them for at least 20 mins with none of the 6 waiters we could see just standing around coming to even offer us a menu. When we finally flagged someone down (it was hard work) we were given a menu with no prices. Although slightly annoyed we still gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered hoping the food would make up for it. We shouldnt have bothered.

The food was awful and small in comparison to the extortionate prices. It tasted like i was emptying the contents of a salt shaker into my mouth.

After our ordeal at this so called excellent restaurant, we asked for our bill and had to wait 20 mins for them to obtain a card terminal so he could swipe the card-did he have to go to the bank to get one???

I wouldnt recommend this restaurant to anyone, it was a truly dreadful experience....macdonalds offers better service than this place, maybe they should ask for some tips!?!!
