I have been to The Archduke twice now, pre theatre and both times I have had really good burgers. It may not be the cheapest around at £13.00, but I would certainly go back. The staff although friendly enough could be more attentive - I had trouble attracting their attention for another beer!Brian from homeexchange50plus.com
6 of us went for a meal on Saturday night to The Archduke and it was the worst meal I've ever had. 2 of the 6 starters came 15minutes after the first four had come out. The roast chicken, fries and house salad was appalling... there were a total of 4 spinach leaves as the 'salad', the chicken was raw and had blood in the middle. The quality of the rest of the food was disgusting, just cheap crappy rubbish that was priced at £13-£18 was a big rip-off. Then it took them 30minutes to bring the bill. So in summary: food that's likely to give you food poisoning and shoddy service. There's a million nicer places round the Southbank so just don't waste your money or time and have a nice meal somewhere else.
The WORST service in London and overpriced food that is badly prepared. I've lived here for 10 years and trust me, it doesn't get worse than this.
I left angry and appalled after a snooty French waiter practically started a fight with us after we asked for another table for our party of 14 (we'd been allocated just 8 seats, which was for too cramped as it was). We had given up the table as two of our party were late, but when they appeared a few moments later the waiter refused to give it back (even though there was nobody sitting there).
In addition, the food sucked. I spent £23 on a fillet steak that I asked to be medium rare. It was somewhere between medium and well done. I should have sent it back but the service sucked so badly that by that time I just wanted to leave.
I always tip and I tip well, but not at The Archduke. The looks of horror after we asked for the 12.5% service charge to be removed were priceless.
Stay well clear of this place if you want to avoid disappointment. I'd have given it zero stars if I could have done.
The Archduke used to be a great place to meet. I and a group of friends have been regulars there for a couple of years but, oh dear, it suddenly changes hands and gets refurbished. The result is that the previously unobtrusive live music becomes deafening, you struggle to find a table that comfortably seats more than four people, the previously excellent wine list has become a joke, the food is still OK but the portions are microscopic and the price of everything has gone up by at least 50%. Needless to say we won't be going back.

what a shame - I recently visited the Archduke which is now under new management - how things have soon changed!
The price of a bottle of wine has vastly increased.
The seating area in the mezzanine are like buckets with ,low tables. I will not be going back!
I love the Archduke, it's been around for years yet still produces quality food in a great atmosphere with really good service. I love sitting in The Archduke's garden in the summer with a bottle of white - lovely!
We stumbled upon The Archduke just before we went on to an IMAX feature. It would have got 5 stars for the great food and wonderful service in the restaurant if the cheeky little madam at the bar hadn't back-chatted me. Judging The Archduke as a bar I'd say 4 stars...as a restaurant 5.
You can’t miss The Archduke – it’s got a whopping neon sign to guide you there. Great in the summer when you can soak up the rays in the conservatory and garden, The Archduke is very ‘South Bank’ and popular with arty types and tourists. Close to Waterloo tube as well.
