I visited this cafe for the first time, and ordered a jacket potato with cheese and beans to take away. Though the potato itself was huge I literally was given a teaspoon of beans and that's being generous. As someone who usually takes my own lunch to work I won't be returning in the future. Sorry.
The information above is a little dated as I was at The Bay Leaf Cafe last week on Saturday after having walked around and seen many other cafes serving "food from a can" essentially. I was delighted when I came upon it as all of the food was fresh and homemade. I sat in and had the Mexican chicken with rice & salad and a lovely tea which came in its own pot (so meant I could have more than 1 glass for the same price). The food tasted great and I was very pleased when I went up to pay that it was so cheap! In fact, I was so impressed with the pricing that I also bought 2 freshly made sandwiches to take away with me for later. Another bit of dated information - they now accept payments with cards too. I think the owners may have changed recently as I was told the Saturday openings were a new thing that they had introduced and good thing too, otherwise I would have been stuck with overpriced sub-par food somewhere else. I would definitely recommend this place to all of my friends and will be going back again and again.
My husband and I picked the Bay Leaf randomly following a shopping trip at Tottenham Court Road. We both ate Lasagna which was delicious and I was pleasantly surprised when it came with a small salad. For desert we ate a slice of lemon meringue pie which had just been freshly baked...I wanted to take the rest of the pie home with us but sadly couldn't. Eating at the Bay Leaf was the perfect end to our day.
I have just discovered The Bay Leaf Cafe - one word amazing! The service is lovely, the food is home made and they have daily specials which is great! They have downstairs seating, quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of busy work life. They are also halal and fairtrade so its perfect for me. If you want a great tasting lunch in a lovely cafe then try The Bay Leaf Cafe out.
If you like choosing a cold dish that's about to be half-microwaved, then fully microwaved once you've eaten half of it, and if you like a pot of tea served in a teapot with so many cracks in it's spout it should have been chucked out years ago, then this is the place for you. Tried it once, won't ever be going back.
The Bay Leaf Cafe is such a good venue for those of you who like proper organic food with delicious fresh ingredients. The Bay Leaf comes highly recommended. By me!
