The Best Oyster Restaurants
London has some of the best oyster restaurants in the UK. We're not too far from the Essex coast so we've got pretty good access to those delicious Maldons but whatever particular type of oyster you're partial to, loads of London restaurants will be able to help you out with considerable aplomb. So grab a glass of bubbly and enjoy the venues that we consider the best for these particular bivalves. Just remember - don't order them when there's an 'r' in the month...
Richard Corrigan's deliciously atmospheric Mayfair venue offers an excellent range of incredibly fresh oysters from a cracking setting. If you're not penny-pinching go for the Loch Ryan No 2s - they're definitely worth the money.

Massimo
Corinthia Hotel London, 10 Northumberland Avenue, Whitehall, London, WC2N 5AE
Exceptionally fresh oysters served from their very own bar make this stunning restaurant worth a visit all on their own. However, there's an equally impressive champagne list too, and it's good to do these things properly, right?
Right in the heart of Farringdon's foodie-land, Mark Hix's excellent spot is proving incredibly popular - and with good reason. The oysters are just about as fresh as you'll get in London and you won't find yourself paying through the nose for them either.

This place isn't just for celeb-spotting, or indeed merely for their famous fish pie. J Sheekey also has an excellent oyster bar that oozes old school glamour. Make sure you get a spot up at the actual bar if you can - it's where all the cool cats hang out, don't you know.

Catch Restaurant
Andaz London , 40 Liverpool Street, Liverpool Street, London, EC2M 7QN
This great and grand restaurant at the Andaz does some pretty good seafood, but it's the oysters that we go back for. Grab some Fine de Claires, a bottle of (their excellent) Gavi di Gavi and your path to pretentious luxury is all but sealed.

This atmospheric Soho venue is definitely one of the best oyster restaurants in London, not only thanks to the quality of the produce they get in but also to the venue itself. Head downstairs and grab a seat at the seafood bar, then watch the chefs in action as you throw some very tasty bivalves down your throat.

This surprisingly informal spot at Michelin House has a pretty impressive reputation among those that are partial to an oyster or two, and with good reason. There's a good wine list but it's the seafood selection that keeps people coming back - with some excellent, well-sourced natives and rocks on a pretty lengthy menu.

Scotts
20 Mount Street, Mayfair, London, W1K 2HE
This celeb-heavy haunt should be revered for its seafood rather than the famous faces that sashay through its impressive innards. So ignore those, and direct your gaze towards the Lindisfarne rocks and the West Mersea natives No 2s instead - they're far more impressive and much less needy.
