The Best Places for Cheese
Cheese, the one thing a full stomach can't say no to. Even at the end of a three course meal, with buttons bursting and breath barely being drawn, there's always room for cheese. Which is a good thing, as cheese at London restaurants can be pretty phenomenal, with everything from Cheddar and Chimay to Gouda, Gruyère, Grevenbroeker and Gamalost available for cheese-loving palates.
Le Beaujolais
25 Litchfield Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9NJ
This place is a bit old school, and you have to be a member if you want to sample their wares, but it's pretty easy to become one. Le Beaujolais is a dingy little downstairs room with some of the best wines in London and definitely some of the best cheeses, so sit back, pick your wine and get the trolley over. Definitely one of the best places for cheese in London town.

La Fromagerie boasts a pretty impressive reputation amongst cheese-loving Londoners, not least for its brilliant cheese room that absolutely stinks. Try the cheese in store, pick your favourites and then take them back to tuck into at home.
This place is always rammed with cheese-loving Londoners, and it's easy to see why. They've got a huge range of cheeses in store (and any they don't they can easily get in) so whatever cheese tickles your biscuits, they'll be able to serve it, usually with a smile.
This popular Greenwich shop has been serving some very fine cheeses since way back when in 1985, so they clearly know what they're doing. These people are serious about cheese, and damn right too - especially when it tastes like this.
This ridiculously attractive restaurant from the brothers Galvin could almost be worthy of its Michelin on its cheese trolley alone. Well, almost. Taking pride of place in the middle of the restaurant, the glass cover offers some pretty enticing views of impeccably sourced cheeses - one of the bries we had here was the best we've ever had.

Gordons
47 Villiers Street, Embankment, London, WC2N 6NE
What's on offer at this famous place by Embankment is by no means the best cheese in London but few venues can match the atmosphere. Head downstairs, grab a good bottle of wine and tuck into your cheeseboard by candelight. Great for a date.

It might not be the best restaurant these days, but the cheese trolley, wheeled over and stinking, will definitely impress. A huge range of French cheeses including an epoisses so pungent it almost hurts, this is one more reason to head to the Southbank.
