Clos Maggiore
33 King Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2E 8JD
Regularly claiming to be the best romantic restaurant in London, this beautiful Covent Garden restaurant might just have a point. And that's not least thanks to the canopy of cherry blossom, the open fire, the superb French food and the stars twinkling through the skylight. It's very romantic indeed.

Le Cafe du Marche
22 Charterhouse Square, Charterhouse Mews, Barbican, London, EC1M 6AH
This tucked away little spot by Barbican might not be the best restaurant to wow a first date (it's not exactly flash) but it's so intimate, charming, warm and inviting that it's all to easy to find yourself spending a few (very romantic) hours amongst its candlelit innards.

Galvin at Windows
London Hilton on Park Lane, 22 Park Lane, Mayfair, London, W1K 1BE
You know this is one of the best romantic restaurants in London when you see - or hear (the screams give it away) - how many proposals are made all those floors up. True, the views are incredible but everything about this great spot makes it romantic, from the fine French food to the exemplary service. Definitely one of the best romantic restaurants in London.

Club Gascon
57 West Smithfield, Barbican, London, EC1A 9DS
This is one of those restaurants that gets the romantic nod just for the splendour of its food and service. Showcasing the best of Gascony, the dishes here are guaranteed to impress every bit as much as the service; service that makes you feel very special indeed.

Odette's
130 Regents Park Road, Primrose Hill, London, NW1 8XL
Bryn Williams' superb Primrose Hill restaurant also happens to be one of the most romantic, primarily thanks to the gorgeous setting. It's a little like dining in a very cosy, intimate house, with lots of tucked-away tables making you feel almost like you've got the place to yourself.

sketch Lecture Room and Library
9 Conduit Street, Mayfair, London, W1S 2XG
This is one restaurant to head to if you want to really impress. The two Michelin stars (and the prices to match) will be one way of wowing, but the service and the fact that it's at the really rather bonkers Sketch will do the rest. Romantic in its own way, this place is more about securing that second date... or a hand in marriage, most probably.

Hakkasan Hanway Place
8 Hanway Place, Fitzrovia, London, W1T 1HD
One of the most famous restaurants in London is also one of the most romantic restaurants. It's very dark (almost too dark) so it's wonderfully intimate and private, and the mere fact that getting a booking in the first place isn't always easy will get you in your beau's very best good books.
