Went here for Breakfast and it lived up to my expectations and its reputation.

Service was prompt and polite and the coffees and smoothies were well made.

I ordered the blueberry pancakes which were very tasty but I would have expected maybe a compote to go with it.

We also ordered the salmon with eggs and a full English breakfast which were both superb.

Good atmosphere, great location and quality tucker, though not quite the Wolseley!

I can't fault The Botanist, great menu, beautiful surroundings: well spaced seating, great art work, attentive service.

I recommend the basil infused bloody Mary a cocktail par excellence.

This is also a great place to have your cream tea.

The ingredients taste fresh and the menu was varied- they could do with adding another vegetarian main option.

I took 3 girlfriends out for lunch here and they all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Beware -the roast dinners sell out very quickly!!

I popped into the Botanist for brunch with a friend before doing some shopping on Kings Road. I absolutely loved it. I found the staff professional and friendly and the food was delicious. I had the eggs benedict and even treated myself to a glass of buck's fizz! I would definitely recommend dropping by- it was the perfect start to my day!

The Botanist is a shining example to all of Chelsea's second rate eateries. The service is constantly attentive and the place buzzes with energy. The food is excellent and I have been known to stay from lunch right through the cocktail hour to dinner, just soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the fabulous people watching opportunities. Nearby venues take note - this is how it is done!

I agree with the below review and think that this place is just spectacular. I have only been twice, once for lunch and once for drinks and dinner and found the atmosphere to be fantastic. The food was good, not the best I have had in London, but good for the price, and the staff were great and really diod make my experience. Will definately be back.

I am an avid regular at the Botanist and have always enjoyed both the food and service to the fullest. The staff are always extremely helpful, going in as much as I do, I marvel at the fact that they can keep smiles on their faces while constantly working so hard and so long. Reading the below reviews, I think that all establishments have bad and good days and you should definatley try The Botanist again. I have never been dissappointed. Oh, and did I mention the amazing cocktail list? With an ever changing menu(I think they change this every couple of months), seasonality of produce, charming and helpful staff, and a fantastic location, this place gets top marks from me!

Really disappointed with afternoon tea. The atmosphere is good and the staff were keen enough but it was all a bit amateurish - had to ask for plates and cups and spoons and milk!

The format and food was a bit rough - too - bread a bit stale, fillings uninspiring. No extra hot water to top up the tea. It's supposed to be an English ritual! The cake selection was more bakery than afternoon tea - one large cake that you have to choose before the sandwiches arrive rather than a considered selection that compliments.

All fine but for the price per head should have been much better.

Having eaten there for the first time last night we were not very pleased when we ordered some french fries which were quite obviously oven fries for £4 and then the leaf and herb salad at £4 was very poor value and was about two mouthfuls.

Foie gras was very good, albeit a small potion.,

The wine waiter was useless - he gave no advice and said the house wine at £22 was good, yes it was but it was not £22. there were other wines on the list which were better value.

one to watch - and its prices.

This review was written on 2/2/2010 and I agree with his comments regarding the 'hand cut' chips which are nothing more than oven or mechanically cut chips. I also complained about this to the waiter but the remainedr of the meall, service and atmosphere were all excellent and we will go back but hope that next time we will be served real hand cut chips!

Terrible service, we waited 15 mintues after seating for a menu, 30 minutes for a drink and then an even longer wait for the food. Served by a brassy Australian with attitude, who raised her eyebrowns and huffed when we asked for something. Food is excellent, when it comes and wine and cocktail list good. Staff terrible and act like its a total bore to serve you and they'd rather you just go home and leave them alone for them to enjoy themselves. A great shame as S Sq needs a bar like this.

I have been coming to the botanist for the last year on and off and think that the food always gets better. Rumor has it that the chef changed over a few months back and the flavours seem to be fresher and have more depth. The service is always spot on and you can't beat the location. Yes, I agree that it is noisy in the evenings, but I feel personally that this adds to the buzzy atmosphere. If the noise puts you off, then you should try out lunch time as this restaurant should not be discounted! My personal fave.

Awful... Went here for Sunday Lunch with 3 friends. 2 of us ordered the beef roast, 1 ordered the pork. All 3 meat dishes were (not exaggerating) about 50-75% fat, not meat. It was disgusting. Fine that restaurants cook the meat WITH the fat to make it more flavorful, but more than half of your meal should NOT be inedible. Service was unapologetic as "this is how the meat is..." and did nothing but offer to cut it out. Will never be returning.

Together with my inlaws, we met for a birthday celebration dinner at the Botanist on Thurs 12.11.2009. Our positives - the location is ideal, the restaurant stylish, the food was very scrummy and house wine very nice. The service left a bit to be desired, after 25 minutes we had to chase up our starters, and were told that the reason was my husband's order of the crayfish lasagne took longer than the others to prepare(???).

However, the biggest negative was that it was so noisy. I could just about hold a conversation with my father in law next to me, but it was impossible to talk across the table without yelling at each other. The bar next to the restaurant was totally chocca and there were hoards of people outside all being very noisy. Maybe lunch time would be a better time to eat?

I am sorry to say that the Botanist is all style over substance. Decor is stylish, the people are stylish, the food is stylish, the flavour is... missing, and when it is there you wish it wasn't.

I had artichoke hearts to start, which were as fresh as a can can provide. The dressing was, well, well it was there. Nothing much from it but not unpleasant, however i have never seen canned veg and dressing presented so amazingly!

Still my starter had nothing on the presentation of my girlfriends soup. The waiter swooped through the sliding doors with a bowl of colour so gorgeously presented Turner would have refused to paint it in fear he would not do it justice.

The liquid having to be carried in a separate copper pot so the magical chemistry of their combination could be appreciated by us at our table. 2 mouthfuls later and the spoon was laid to rest, its job complete for the evening.

The second mouthful was mine, as my girlfriend has no need for a second to assure herself she would not lie on her deathbed regretting not having given it more of a chance. Round 1 was as successful as Apollo Creed against Ivan Drago in Rocky IV.

We should have thrown in the napkin, but like the late Apollo we thought it had to get better. Luckily it did and we did not have a giant soviet kill us with a right hook. Don't get me wrong, my Salmon fishcake was more a salt and mashed potato cake, with salt that had been over seasoned and then had a brief chat with the salmon on the way out of the kitchen.

The salad my girlfriend had was just ingredients, as comfortable around each other as an office the night after the Christmas party, where truths were told in a drunken haze and not everyone made it back to their own bed. The dressing also resembled what had covered my artichokes a little earlier, funny that. We also had the smoking section just out of the window. Though on the positive side it was great for people watch

This is the most grandiose, magniloquent, otiose and hyperbolic review I have ever read. 5 stars for transcending the mundane and swan diving in beautifully ridiculous metaphors.

My particular favourite was the salad.

I went with my Russian girlfriend, having booked at 6.30pm on this Tuesday for an 8.30pm table.

Friendly on the phone. We arrived and I was a bit unnerved by having to walk through a busy and rather Yuppy bar.

However we announced ourselves and were quickly given a good table (room for 3) 10 minutes early.

The waiter was attentive and polite. The wine, a St Emili-on Grand Cru, was corked and a bit off so we returned it without fuss and got an Italian wine which was fine.

The water still had not arrived and we had to ask twice before it arrived. I had Macaroni to start which was delicious.

Main was Lamb Assiette for me and Ribeye steak for Lana. Both were well presented, tasty and served within a good time.

However Lana asked for and never got any mustard. The spinach side dish was fine. For pudding I had Treacle Sponge with cream which was prompt and tasty.

The bill inclusive was £99.56 which I thought was acceptable. The staff were friendly and helpful and our experience was positive.

However it is a bit Yuppy and the bar detracts from the style. On the way out Lana noticed the doorman failed to open the front door as we left.I would go again

I made the unfortunate choice of picking The Botanist as a meeting place on a Friday evening, Never again...

The bar was three deep with rude arrogant males who have clearly forgotten their manners climbing the sloaney set ladder and although the barman was ok once he got to me, it took far longer than it should.

Luckily once we had our drinks, my date and I found a corner in which we ensconced ourselves and where we stayed until we left to move on to a much nicer bar on Fulham Road.

(Bartique if your interested) I'm sure The Botanist is much better during the day for lunch and watching the world go by but I for one certainly wont be returning for evening drinks anytime soon.

I had lunch here a couple of times and found the food really good, the waiters kind, very attentive and competent and the atmosphere enjoyable, although it gets a bit loud inside when the place is full, due to lack of sort furnishing all round, but certainly a change for the better from the previous establishment!
I shall certainly attend again, but would recommend the owner to choose their management a bit more carefully, if not replace the existing ones completely!
I didn't book the first time and had no problem getting a table at all, whilst I reserved the second time, showed up with my guests 10 minutes early and we were made to wait at the bar because the reservation had not come up yet (?), notwithstanding the fact that the restaurant was half empty inside!
And all throughout we had to put up with their slight attitude and really silly excuses on why they couldn't even sit us at the table I asked for at the time of my phone booking and the fact that the same table remained empty for at least an hour after we got seated elsewhere…….

Overall, the place is a hit with food, service, location and atmosphere, but the existing management must go!

I have dined there on a couple of occasions as I live just around the corner and couldn't disagree more with this review be more pleased. whatever day of the week it is, I have found the service to be very attentive and the food amazing, very seasonal and good quality, I have had the foie gras and found the flavours moulded really well together, the design of the restaurant is flawless as well, the back wall looks amazing.
Cocktials are to die for and so is the wine, well worth a visit!

I live around the corner too and love the fact that there is no longer a dingy pub on the corner. the food is seasonal and fresh if a little simple but the cocktails enjoyed whilst you watch the world wag by on a friday night are something else. My only issue isue was a smoker beside my window table, but waiter kindly asked them not to, so problem solved. We rarely book but usually manage to get a table although we had to wait 45 minute for a table of 4 last weekend. Will book next time as it seems to be constantly busy.
