nice breakfast, good sausages, hot waitress, but very expensive side of toast takes a star off!

I've had my fair share of bad meals but this is only the second time I've been moved to write a review about one.

Against our better judgement me and my girlfriend decided to pop into the Breakfast Club for a bite to eat on a Sunday afternoon. We'd been there before.

Liked the decor and atmosphere but my eggs were swimming in uncooked, gobby white and her poached eggs were hard-boiled. Naively, we assumed the cook was just having a bad day.

So she ordered some poached eggs of toast. I ordered a full english. We settled down to read our papers. All very nice so far. .

Anyway, about an hour later - when newspapers had been read cover to cover and we were even on the verge of striking up a conversation - we were told there had been a cock up.

Apparently the printer had broken down so the kitchen hadn't received the orders. Given that noone had any food on their table for the last half an hour or so it wouldn't take Columbo to spot there was a problem.

So, already losing enthusiasm, we reordered our meals. Half an hour later they brought out my breakfast - complete with uncooked fried eggs and scrambled eggs on toast for my girlfriend. Oh dear.

They offered to cook my girlfriend the poached eggs she ordered. But by this time we'd had enough.To sum up, we went into the Breakfast Club in a good mood and left an hour and a half later in a grump, with hunger in our bellies.

If you want to get fed try Ottolenghi on upper street. Food and coffee infinitely better and staff know what they're doing.

This is the best cafe ever. The most amazing food with large portions. Most lovely staff.

Made my birthday so special with the most amazing hot chocolate cake with strawberries, blueberries and real roses on top( we did bring our own flowers though!)!

And that was my 4th time back!Cocktail hour was great with 2 for the price of one! If you feel like just having some drinks with sharing platters then they are absolutely fine with that too! They even let us play our own Music!

Pancakes to die for! Delicious food and happy staff, worth checking out if you're an ex-pat like me.
