I went to common room on saturday with a group of friends. what a night!! we had not booked, but the staff created an area for us to have for the night. the service was amazing. we did not have to go to the bar once, the very attentive waitress helped us select some weird and wonderful wines from the wine list (it is massive). while some of the group worked their way through the cocktail list. the music was amazing, we did not stop dancing. to boot, i have never seen so many beautiful people in my life. as a first time visit, i was blown away, i would highly reccomend a visit soon.
Not the best dinner we have ever had. A waitress not very interested in serving food and it was very difficult to get her attention. Food was very average microwaved and boring.
We booked The Common Room reccently for a birthday celebration and couldn't be happier!! On a Friday night we had our own private back room and could dance to the live band that was playing. Good food, great staff and perfect music. Personally I found it the best place in the village for a fun night out with friends. I definitely recommend it to anyone holding a party and I will be going back often!
I would just like to say, i have visited the common room on a number of occasions and always had high quality service with the bar staff always smiling and happy to help in all aspects with myself and my daughter.
I recently went there for lunch with my daughter and a friend and was particularly impressed with the standard of help i recieved. I ordered some lunch and the barman brought our drinks, highchair and cutlery straight to our table which i was very impressed with.
We had a delicious lunch which was hot on arrival and didn't taste like something out of a bag. Naturally when we had finished i was trying to clear up the large amount of mess you gain with a toddler but the barman came straight over and told me not to worry he would take care of it.
The barman deserves my highest regards he was young and fresh and happy to help he gave his name as Ben. I wanted to write on here to let others know that some people do have bad experiences but mine has always been very good, and its always hard to find somewhere to lunch with a toddler in tow where peole are quite happy to help you out.
I would recommend the common room to anyone who asks me and i rate it 10 out of 10 in all areas.
Since eating at The Common Room, and writing the review below, I have spoken to several friends who rate The Common Room highly. Also, as you can see from below, both the chef and manager contacted me, a rare example of good customer service. This is far from the disregard that I experienced when I ate there, and I think maybe we just hit one of those bad days that everywhere has- so I will give The Common Room another go!
Not many places would go to the effort of the Common Room to check why things went wrong- so for that I rate them highly. Thanks.
Awful. The food is incredibly poor, though we may have just been unlucky? However, would never go there again. I took friends there, and felt embarrased! We all ate different dishes, so it wasnt a one-dish problem, they were all poor- from the steak to the veggie option. Absolutely awful!
The Common Room is a great place for watching, yes you guessed it - the tennis. Great atmosphere there last week, especially on the day Andy Murray went through. Will be back at The Common Room for more soon!
