Staff unwelcoming and very poor service. Would not recommend this pub to anyone.

It's a good pub and great atmosphere, food. A bit pricey though.

really hate this place. staff are rude and obnoxious - the icing on the cake being during the world cup, when we were told aggressively by staff we couldn't get up and go through the door to get to the toilet / bar AT ALL because we'd 'block the view'!!

food is overpriced and also takes really long to arrive, at different times to everyone else - 45 minutes for a sandwich, seriously! everyone else had finished by the time it arrived, bar staff again rude when you politely ask what's happening.

it's a lovely location and garden, so we've given it many second chances, but are continually let down and disappointed. very sad.

Love this pub. I've been here quite a few times since it was done up and can't recommend it enough.

Yeah, you sometimes have to wait a bit for your food but considering how busy it gets that's understandable.

Totally disagree with the previous review. There are plenty of budget options to offset the more expensive dishes and i've always had great food.

And it's great for us Fulham fans on home games as they put up a simple bar in the garden and fire out hot dogs, pies and burgers from the bbq for no more than £5 a pop.

Great beer garden but thats it! DON'T EAT HERE, unless you have 2 hours to spare and are not to bothered about paying over the odds for very average food.

Terrible service and very dim staff. Also a lot of local kids come down to the river and pelt the swans with bricks.

The Crabtree is a wonderful old Victorian building - one of the oldest in the area in existence long before the surrounding houses.

It sits on the edge of the river away from roads, and indeed away from the crowds that throng on the towpath north of the bridge.

It faces due west into the setting sun, overlooking the river and wetland centre.

However, it has had a long history of dismal food. And this has been enough to put a lot of people off it and is re-enforced by previous reviews.

Previous owners have put much effort into buying food frozen and wholesale, churning out the same rubbish as every other underwhelming pub.

Finally, after a long wait, things have changed and are really looking up. New owners have a number of similar pubs around town and come with pedigree.

They spent 16 days ripping out the old rubbish, sanitising the kitchen, decking the river-front terrace and garden, where they created an outdoor kitchen, and made good use of the shelter under the veranda - it can get nippy with a westerly wind, before reopening last weekend.

The interior is more focused towards eating, creating a relaxed restaurant feel, balanced with ample areas to sit, drink and chat.

And, fresh food! I came with some discerning (gastronomically spoilt) friends and concluded that The Crabtree finally passed muster.

Belly port was crisp as caramel on top but beautifully tender within. Smoked eel was luxuriously buttery. Irish steak done to perfection.

The menu isn't huge but it's imaginative, fresh and changes according to what is in the market that day.

I believe (second hand info) that the chef has Smiths of Smithfield on his CV.Booze is booze, but it does have a respectable wine list, and they switch the beers around regularly. And you don't have to wait forever to be served.

I feel differently to all the other reviews. It was my first time going to the pub but I felt it had a relaxing and nice feel and mood to it. The staff were kind and I felt the service was of a good standard.

They must have changed their menu since someone made the review about the burgers. They were home-made, tasted excellent and could never be compared to a McDonalds burger!

With their new layout, modern design and the huge outside area this is a pub that everyone should go to during these summer months. Also the biggest plus of all has to be the looking out to the river Thames.

To conclude the food was great the beer was NOT flat and the service and experience as a whole was a really good afternoon and night out!

I am defiantly going again and I highly recommend this to anyone in the area!

Decided to go to the Crabtree a couple of weeks ago when the sun was shining to make use of the lovely beer garden.

Had to wait over half an hour at the bar to be served. Then had to wait for an hour and a half to recieve our meals.

The kitchen was in chaos and the staff had no idea what they were doing.

When we were half way through our meals we were asked if we had actually ordered them by an obnoxious staff member.

When I asked to speak to the manager to complain about they way we had been spoken to I was told that he was too busy to come and speak to me.

I will NEVER go back!

We used to come here for dinner and a drink, but after several very disappointing nights have decided to take our custom elsewhere. We were told one time that most of the menu was unavailable due to them running out of supplies, but went back again another time as we used to get good food there. But again they had run out of supplies, and were unapologetic. And the food they did serve gone downhill too. Until they get a new system in place we're avoiding it, which is a shame as its a nice place in a great spot. Get your act together.

Utterly disappointing. What was once a great local has now turned into a complete disaster - not able to fulfil a simple order. Staff seemed very complacent and do not realise that there are plenty of other pubs locally offering a superior service.



Would highly recommend avoiding until management have resolved the diabolical situation. This is the fourth time that we have experienced problems and nothing has improved or been rectified.

The Crabtree is quite nice with a lovely outdoor area. I've been there twice and on both occasions the service and food was appalling. The bar was understaffed, the service slow and the food was perhaps the worst pub meal I have eaten. We ordered a burger which used the pre frozen burger meat which you buy out of a supermarket. A Mcdonalds burger was 100 per cent better than the burger we ate! It's appalling that a chef can't even make fresh burgers!



Go to The Crabtree for a drink, not for food.

The Crabtree is a nice riverside pub. They had a recent remodel so it is nice and new on the inside. The Crabtree is a good place to watch the footy just make sure you support Chelsea.
