The dove is a great pub, however it is a victim of its own success; I tried to go there last weekend (it was very sunny) and could hardly fit in through the door, let alone find a seat.

I would still recommend it when less crowded- but for a sunny weekend, unless you get there very early, try the Blue Anchor instead (it is right on the river side so plenty of space to lean on the wall and watch the water).

It's a gorgeous location. The food was OK, though we had to ask three times for some dressing for the salad. I wouldn't go back because of the state of the loos: no plug, no paper, no way to dry your hands, no light, all rather unsavoury.

The Dove is an oldy worldy pub with good atmosphere but don't go there to eat. Service took 40mins. My partner had a steak and ale pie which had more of a shortcrust pastry than nice light fluffy puff pastry and the gravy was more like water

I had a grilled salmon salad. It was in fact a plate of salad with a few flakes of salmon. I would bet that there was perhaps less than 100g. They were expensive for what we got. The Dove is an absolute rip-off.

The Dove is where I first met the love of my life, always a friendly and lively place where we both enjoy a relaxing drink over the weekend.
If you decide to experience the tiny but cosy bar or the picture perfect balcony, you can't but fail to lose yourself for those few moments in the glory that is The Dove.

The Dove on Upper Mall is a very special place. I spent a few hours there when I arrived at the nearby William Morris Society early - before public touring hours. I sat on the balcony and watched the sailboats and rowboats glide along the Thames while drinking a nice "bitter." Loads of history and a friendly staff.
