I live close to the Durrell and used to go there a lot. Sadly, the management have recently made some changes in an attempt to attract the 'Chelsea' crowd.

Gone is the live music that distinguished the bar and made it a sanctuary from the raucous Sunday night classlessness of the P&P over the road, and the prices have undergone a massive hike.

A double measure plus mixer now costs nearly £7. Just to put that in perspective, it's more than you'd fine in most Mayfair bars. And what does the Durrell offer in return?

Nothing that warrants it - the toilets are dirty and the customers not on the sophisticated end of the spectrum, shall we say.

A great shame; it may attract those with more money than sense, but there are better pubs in the area. Give the Durrell a miss.

I'm returning to update my previous review. This venue has gone through countless changes of management but is now much more consistent. The place has undergone a huge and careful refurbishment and now looks really nice - I'd go as far as to say it's transformed from what it used to be.

Sadly, the cost of drinks are now even higher - significantly overpriced, and there are cheaper places not far away. That's a shame because aside from the cost of the alcohol (and the toilets, which need cleaning up), this is now quite a nice little place to visit and spend time in, with a good quality band at the weekend.

The staff could be friendlier, but as it goes, it's much better than it used to be.

The Durrell used to be one of my favourite haunts. Went back recently and it's still a great place for food, drink, and watching the world go by.

The Durrell is worth checking out if you're in the area.
