Last monday our group of 6 dined at this restaurant after we saw pictures of famous people dining here displayed on the window. We thought if its good for them it must be good for us. How wrong we were. Living local we have experienced the food at most restaurants. This one diffenetly bottoms the list. Prices are extortionate. Portions are small. Ambience and atmosphere is dull. Chairs are coming off. Table cloths were dirty and smelly. Glasses were stained. Even the plate we were served on had to be returned because they had marks on them. With so much competition around these guys need to fix up before they start serving. It is a shame as it spoilt the evening. Never again shall I return.

Having visited most curry houses in brick lane this one by far seems the worst of the bunch. With waiters standing on the door touting for customers and constantly opening and closing the front door seemed to ruin the whole experience of dining. The food was bland and flavourless. Reminded me of my worse take-away meal back in the 90's. Wine prices were extortionate. Service was hit and miss. Manager was polite but thats about it. Try Shampan Restaurant next door.

Great food, big portions! We had the Indian style fish and chips and the 'masala chicken' both of which were really nice, and supersize. I'd recommend this restaurant, its perfect if you want a traditional curry but there are also lots of interesting Indian inspired dishes on the menu

I went to The Curry Bazaar on Friday with my partner for the first time. We were greeted and seated quickly and our waiter was extremely polite. The food was superb. We were impressed by the unique Indian Art on the wall, especially the Bengal tiger. We enjoyed a tandoori mixed grill with garlic naan and a Meat Thali. We drank cobra beer and some Poppadoms. I would definitely return to this restaurant and recommend it highly.

As always The Famous Curry Bazaar deliver excellent food and service. Haven't been in a while so interesting to see the renovations. Music a bit too loud for conversation but not enough to hamper general enjoyment of evening.

I went to The Famous Curry Bazaar on Brick lane with my boyfriend, parents, sister and her boyfriend (all of whom seasoned curry eaters!!!). We had a lovely evening, the waiters were friendly and funny, we were able to take our own alcohol and really enjoyed our meals. My sisters boyfriend took on the challenge of eating a Phal and was proud of his achievement when he finally finished! The milder curry's were also lovely and were packed with flavour. Would go again for the quality of food

Totally disapointed with service & food. Ordered 2 poppadums, given 6, ate 3 but charged for all 6. As they were only 60p we didnt complain but the waiter should listen to customer orders. Had to ask the waiter to take our order (think they wanted to drag it out so we spent more on drinks) and then would not be given new cutlery for the main.
Food was bland, plain and dull. My veg bhuna was more like a veg stew (not even mild, just tasteless), my partners madras was verging on medium (by no means hot) but gave him an upset tummy and our friends jalfrezi was aptly renamed 'fisher price jalfrezi' as it was not hot, possibly could be called medium but would be suitable for a toddler entering into the world of Indian food. Very upset as our friend doesn’t visit London and we are all huge Indian food fans. This place did not deliver on any aspect of the dining out experience.

Food is OK , but presented with a terrible service. I never seen a waiter refuse to change cutlery after a usage, so its a definitely a place to go if you like eating with dirty knives and forks.

The Famous Curry Bazaar was amazing! First time there and i will be returning shortly! The king prawn butterfly starter was delicious as was the main i had, which was just chicken tikka masala, but it was amazing. The service was also very good! Excellent!

I went to the curry house because of the reviews on here and I would say it is very average not any more than 3 star, the staff are ok and we were given a free drink but it really is nothing special I could have gone to any number of the curry houses and had the same experience. My friends enjoyed their food but said the same nothing to rave about. However the place was buzzing and did have a nice atmosphere and clean toilets (I judge a place by the loo). I will never go in a curry house if it isn't busy and I have to say it was busy and the service was quick we didnt wait long for our food. I would say if your not too fussy about the taste being perfect but want atmosphere than go but if you want excellent food then don't.

Great place for a family dinner. Very nice and traditional, the caller outside was very kind and did not stand in our way, just welcomed us in front of the door. Saw Peter Sissons picture on the window so I dragged my wife and cousins in, delicious food, great atmosphere, lovely service and the price was excellent unlike some curry houses. Would definitely recommend, will be back soon.

I would have given them no stars if the option was available. The famous or shall I say (infamous) Curry Bazaar gave me my worst dining experience ever.

The mains took over an hour and a half to arrive and when it eventually came, the orders were wrong.

To make matters worse, Mr Waiter man attempted to lie to us about the dish and returned with the same plate of food but branded it with a different name.

There is no way I can trust these guys, if their waiting staff can casually lie about their dishes in the faces of their customers, then god knows what they try to get away behind closed doors in the kitchen?

Other members of the waiting staff were rude in their fabricated explanation of the situation and simply did not know when to give up their lost cause.. one of them was looking at his phone when he tried to come up with a semi apologetic explanation.

It really makes me think how much pride this restaurant puts into their work, or whether I should have been angry at the waiter or simply pity him for their lack of ethics or respect to a) their professionalism b) their customers and c) themselves.

It was almost 11pm when the lied about mains were served, I can't imagine any diners to be satisfied with that.

There were no options but to walk out. I write in the hope that anybody who reads this review will not commit the error to eating at the Famous Curry Bazaar.

I've been to The Famous Curry Bazaar twice, and had excellent food and service for good prices both times. The set lunch was a particularly good deal, but there are more options at dinner.

The Famous Curry Bazaar has lots of delicious veggie options, were perfectly happy to make substitutions, and weren't pushy as some other Brick Lane curry house staff can be. Definitely recommended.

This review must be written by the restaurant's staff!! Don't believe a word of it!

When we went to the Famous Curry Bazaar we had the worst curry experience we have ever had. The vegetable pakoras were deep fried breadcrumbed croquettes, blatantly not made on the premises and with zero spicing.

The chicken tikka masala had so much desicated coconut in it it was sweet and tasted like a bounty! The chicken ureebisi was so salty it was practically inedible.

If the "chef" has had any training, or even cooked at all before taking up the post, I would be very surprised!!

Dunno if The Famous Curry Bazaar is really famous – not even down this street, but it’s a pretty decent spot for some Indian tucker. Famous Curry Bazaar has loads of choice too – lots of stuff to try on the menu – especially for veggies.

Complete Pants. We booked a table for 14 and despite having rung and confirmed twice, including on the day, we got there to find a table for 10 and another for 4 down the other end of the restaurant as they had another big group in. Also the table for 10 had 4 places against a wall where no one could get in or out. Of course we complained bitterly and got moved halfway through the meal so we could all sit together. We even had to carry our own plates.
