To be fair I don’t understand the bad comments left about this club? I came down from Liverpool for my 25th birthday because I heard it’s the best place to go in Covent Garden for music atmosphere and vibe… I wasn’t disappointed. When we arrived we didn’t cue long the bouncers were on the ball (Louise especially friendly) got us into the club quite quickly. We sheared a joke and had friendly banter with them and yet they still remain fully professional carry out searches but still make you feel comfortable. Tanya (I think that was her name)the host doing our guest list was so cheery, friendly and funny! Despite the freezing cold and looking frost bitten. She was very complementary and was genuinely excited that it was my birthday and made me feel dead special. Nothing was too much trouble for her and we asked loads of questions about what was happening and going on tonight and she did a grate job of explaining all the info in detail. The bar staff were wicked too they served us a quickly as poss… Only bad comment I could say would be the smell from the gents loo! Was RANK! But hay ho? That’s men for you?Being a group of girls going into clubs in London they can be so stuck up and snooty especially if you are a group of girls… This club is in a different league to them.I had been standing in the cue and seen with my own eyesPeople who obviously had a little too much to drink… The bouncers know what they are doing at the end of the day – they do it for a living its their job to judge you on how intoxicated you are?? To the customers getting refused at the time it may not seem apparent that your fuelled with alcohol… but other club goers who haven’t started their night yet and havent had a drop to drink, you can tell just by looking at their pupils (as wide and as big as their mouths) that they have had enough in every respect. Thats b4 they have even got into the club... How rude and drunk are they going to be once inside?

I had a very bad experience trying to get into the Gardening Club this past Friday night (28 Nov 08). I had my name on the guest list along with three of my friends and on arrival one very negative door lady decided not to let us in. There were two other people covering the door that night (both men) who were happy to let us in, but this lady just didn’t not to let us in the club. Her reasoning was we were too intoxicated, which was a load of rubbish. We are four 30 year old women who shared one bottle of wine before arriving to the club, which I think is hardly intoxicated. The door lady told us to go and have a coffee and return, so as we really wanted to enjoy an evening in the club – we did as she asked. We returned to find that as we were about to enter to the club the second time, she told the other lady on the door with the clipboard that the club capacity was full. We said we were happy to wait! We waited approx 15 minutes and then the lady with the clipboard said we could in. We are half way in to find the door women rudely pushing us back and telling us that as we are intoxicated she cannot let us in and that the licensee of the club had seen as and had denied entry. At this point we asked to see the licensee of the club as clearly they had been a mistake. The licensee arrived and confirmed he had not seen us before and that it would cause him problems if he overrides the decision made by this door lady. I don’t normally write reviews but I felt we got treated in an unfair manner.

Only been there on monday nights but it's a great place to dance with your friends and have a good laugh. No one's too hard pressed to go on the pull and the DJs play REALLY good music. DMX to Jackson 5.. it just gets you going. Also the bouncers are super nice! Tanya/Tania/however you spell it is the nicest. They always are in a good mood and are very welcoming. Monday's are a great night out and it's the place to be. Don't let other reviews fool you. The pitcher of mojito is only 8 pounds and if you want a no hassle night out...Gardening Club is the place to be!

The Gardening Club's Wednesday night - Baby Grand is by far the best night out in London. It's full of theatre people which means lots of eye candy and great dancing. The music is top notch with lots of different styles and a bit of cheese which is always good fun. HALF PRICE WINE ALL NIGHT was the best bit I think! I couldn't believe it. The promoter( tall Irish guy) is usually around making sure everyone is having a good time which makes the night good.

You must go!

TANYA AND TEAM are stars. Great door staff despite others' experiences, will defo come again. Monday night's a top London student night; free entry, cheap drinks, awesome crowd and solid tunes. Highly recommended.

I met up with a couple of mates here a while ago (Sat I think) and the place was heaving and very hot. But the music was cool and there were some old school garage and hip-hop tracks I haven't heard for years - let alone in a club! I was well impressed with that.

Anyway I've read what people have said about the bouncers and I had a different experience, me and my mates jested with the doormen all night and it was hilarious when we went out for a cigarette now and again. They are just people like you and me but if they don't want to let you in they have their reasons. It's silly to get so upset and post a review saying how crap and rude they are - because obviously there wouldn't be people saying good things.

The drink prices are a bit of a piss-take though, I got a 2 Coronas, 1 JD&coke and 1 vodka redbull and got coin change from £30...

Wasn't much of an atmosphere in the place either - also there was a group of stupid ar$eh0les wearing dark sun shades and bumping into people (we thought that looked hilarious).

All in all not to bad of a place, but i want to try Friday as I hear it's much better.

Me and two friends and I went to The Gardening Club on a Thursday and I just can't understand some of the complaints about it that have been made on here.

The barstaff and bouncers were friendly and attentive, we didn't have to wait long at the bar and the air con seemed to be working fine.

Now it was my first time going and it may well be different on other nights but I loved it. There was a great mix of music, it was Happy Hour until midnight, our cocktails were prepared very professionally and we had the opportunity to both relax and have a bit of a dance!

I will definitely be going back

Having attended The Gardening Club for a hen night I can safely say that I will not be going back again.

The night on a whole was good, and I have to say that I like a bit of cheese. My one and major disappointment was the VIP area and the treatment we received from the safe and the manager (I think that's what he was)

After the maid of honour booked the VIP area she was told that there would be a minimum spend of £400. This was fine as it would mean that every would spend £25 each. We knew that we would go well over that, it was a hen night after all. What they did not tell the maid of honour was that we would have to spend £400 by 10 o'clock! This meant that we had an hour and a half to spend £400, given that drinks and food were half price this was really hard.

I wouldn't even mind but they didn't treat it like a VIP area, letting other people use the bar!

Needless to say that we all spent out £25 each and did not put another penny behind the bar. Shame as they would have got some much more than us.

My suggestion is loose the attitude, get better air con and bigger toilets! Then you might have something to be so pompous about.

I certainly will not be recommending this place again. Shame because it would have been an ideal club for a Saturday night uptown.
