Review byKaty Keenan29/08/2007
A taste bud treat in pretty vintage surroundings, The Garrison is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner - or just pull up an upholstered chair and stay all day.

The Venue
As soon as you enter The Garrison you’ll be struck by its intimate decor, despite the area itself being large enough to cater for its popularity. The theme is vintage and the ornate chairs, tables and lighting lend to a romantic and cosy environment to treat yourself and your friends.

The Atmosphere
The Garrison’s highly enthusiastic and warm staff are there to meet you at the door, and even if you haven’t booked it’s worth the wait. Throughout your visit, you’ll receive star treatment and be impressed by The Garrison’s personal touches.

The Food
The monkfish and chorizo combination is just one dish is highly recommended and the side dish of dauphinoise potatoes are an absolute must. The specials change daily so there is every excuse to go back and sample the rest of the menu.

The pudding selection features with homemade sorbets and ice creams accompanying tasty interpretations of banoffee pie, treacle tart and chocolate sponge puddings. If you are fortunate enough to have a schedule that allows you to make breakfast, you’ll be spoilt for choice with organic porridge, fresh fruit juices and New York style brunch with eggs in every which way you can imagine.

The Drink
The Garrison offers the drinks you would expect at any good bar but delivered in such a way that even the most eager drinkers will want to savour every sip. You’ll find a good selection of wines and lagers and if you have had enough of big decisions, the staff will help you select a wine that will suit your meal selection. Some may decide to stick with the classic gin and tonics though, as it’s hard to be weaned off the Garrison G&T should you choose that as your pre-dinner drink.

The Last Word
Don’t be surprised to find yourself looking in local property management windows on your way home so that you can guarantee daily access to the wonderful daily specials board.
