Literally just come home from the Gate. Been there once before and was fairly good but this time the price and reputation just does not match up.
Having been a vegetarian for a fair chunk on my life the food here is bland. Came in a group and tried quite a few starters and mains and the only saving grace was the baileys cheesecake which was divine.
Moreover the staff need to smile more and be more attentive. On a more positive note the vibe in the dining room is good.
Great menu overall but needs better execution.
Had the most fantastic meal there, the food, wine and vibes were terrific plus we were sitting next to Kiera Knightley
One of the best meals i've ever had, it was so hard to choose as everything sounded so tasty, the service was incredibly friendly yet polite but professional and the place was buzzing, it has got un incredible atmosphere!
by the way, dont know if he's vegetarian but there was Simon Callow sitting next to our table!
Went for the first time last week after reading a review, i must say even though the review was very good i was quite sceptical on what their menu could offer: i was truly amazed. Me and my partner had the mezze platter which was absolutely delicious, then i had the aubergine schnitzel to follow; which i was told it's one of the favourites: now i know why. My partner had the nut roast and she said it's been one of the best she's ever had. Finally we decided to share an apple crumble which was fantastic, it wasn't as i had expected i must say but it was more of a take on a crumble, the only thing i regret is actually having to share it!Will be definitely coming back soon!
I visit the Gate every few months and it keeps surprising me with exciting new dishes on the menu.
Every time I pop in, the service is friendly, the atmosphere lively and unpretentious, finally the food hasn't ceased to amaze me.
I don't live close but it never stops me from venturing out to Hammersmith and discovering the Gate again and again... great vegetarian food, mouth watering experience!!!
Gate Vegetarian restaurant does great vegetarian food served in a lovely large airy dining room with first rate service on the occasion we visited. Gate Vegetarian restaurant is a real gem.
This is how veggie food should be! The Gate Vegetarian Restaurant are bringing the vegetable into the 21st century with a bang! Yummy, scrummy, inventive dishes without a dead carcass in sight. The Gate Vegetarian Restaurant have just done a book too, so you can recreate their recipes at home.
