This was the 4th time we have dined at The golden oven and must say the food has been excellent each time. This food really is some of the best authentic Indian food you'll find anywhere, beutiful full flavours with a real depth.
We shared a tandoori mix grill for a starter. However, the flavour and texture was superb. I chose the lamb biryani served with raita for my main, which was perfectly cooked with a lovely fresh flavour. My wife had the chicken banarasi, which I have to admit was almost as good as the chicken akbar I had last time I was there. Reall exceptional, authentic Indian food.
The service has always been very friendly. However it adds to a great dining experience in my opinion.
The golden oven is a great little indian restaurant in soho. and the food is some of the best Indian I've had. When you are at the golden oven Try the tandoori chicken naga (EXTRA HOT DISH) or the KING PRAWN mushroom bhuna and you won't be disappointed.

This place is fantastic. This was our second meal there and again the food was awesome. The service is personal. Value for money is definitely their and the relaxed atmosphere is the making of a romantic evening. Upgraded the house bottle of wine to a superb Rioja. This is an evening experience rather than just a meal. Will definitely be going back. Thumbs up, do yourself a favour and get booked in worth a try.

This is the 3rd time I went back to The golden oven in soho as it was a sure bet to be another success. It was! I took along my wife an her friends this time who were also very impressed. Great food. By far the best deal I've found in London in a very long time. Don't hesitate to go here if you're hungry for curry - they've got plenty of the good stuff here with very friendly staff (Ali the waiter even remembered me from last time which was impressive!).

Service was superb: they were very accommodating, and even adapted dishes for a wheat-free, diary-free diet. The food was delicious, freshly cooked and some really interesting dishes and combinations. We would thoroughly recommend based on our experience.

We were made to feel so welcome, even though the restaurant was busy that night. As soon as we were seated, we were served with some papadums and chutney, followed by our order of drinks. All the staff were very attentive and seemed to delight in working there. Not once did we have to attract their attention. The food was very fresh tasting and overall very impressive. I will definitely be back! (our second visit).

Welcome was warm on arrival and myself and my friend were able to choose a table for 2 by the window, despite the fact that this is a small but cosy restaurant. The restaurant appears to be family-run and the food we were served was excellent and well balanced spices. We had the house special, a Medium flavoured Chicken Tikka Dish which was washed down with a bottle of refreshing rose! Recommended.

Having read positive reviews on this restaurant, my wife and I decided to have a meal at the Golden Oven before the theatre. The menu and food was of good quality. However, I have never come across such rudeness from staff... Not recommended!

We found the same thing! Decent food but staff were utterly rude and hard selling each of the three times we went. God forbid you did NOT want to order the special balti menu. We will not be returning.

Went into The Golden Oven in Soho during the royal wedding holidays, very impressed with the whole evening. The staff, were brilliant and knowledgeable also quick to check with the chef when we said we had both nut and onion allergy sufferers dining. The food was fantastic, tasted very fresh, on a whole it was a great dining experience. Will visit again when back in London. (Group form Dublin).

Amazing food and great friendly service! We were recommended to this place by a friend who lives in soho and goes at least once a week. We had some poppadoms while studying the menu in detail. There is so much to choose from. We had the naga chicken from Bangladesh - wow the best flavour curry I have had in ages. I can't wait for my next vist to the golden oven

The Golden Oven in Soho was excellent for a pre theatre Dinner. Unfancy, traditional honest food without the grease and boring options that let most other Indian restaurants down. The Waiter simply recommended a dish of mixed fish (wasn't on the menu - couldn't decide as spoilt for choice). The recommendation was excellent - clean, fresh well executed food with a personal touch to the service. Will Return.

One of the best Indian places in Soho! The staff is amazing and welcoming. Last night we ordered the lamb and chicken vindaloo but the waiter suggested that if we were after something hot he could make up something that was not on the menu. I wish I could tell you what it was called because we loved our meals, ask them and they will figure it out. I have to also recommend the Sag Ghost and Chefs special Garlic Chili Chicken.
The prices are really affordable so we end up getting take away during the week and unlike other places the food is amazing either dining in or take away. Go there if you are in Soho.

This is a truly authentic Indian restuarant with excellent food, great service and a wonderful atmosphere. The staff are most welcoming, attentive and look after you well. There is a good choice of food but we usually ask for their advice on which dish to order and we are always pleasantly surprised as the food is really very traditional and tasty. It is our favourite restuarant in soho, and I would highly recommend it and always take my clients there and often go with friends and family. The decor is very nice. You will not be disapointed with food, service or atmosphere.

We ate at The Golden Oven this evening 02/10/2010 based on the reviews we had seen we expected a great meal. On the contrary we found it to be just the opposite. We started with popadums with the usual condo ments. They were clearly at least a day old with a stale taste! I would say the first rule for serving popadums would be that they should be served absolutely freshly cooked with no exeption. Main course chicken madras, 4 or five small cubes of chicken very dry tasteless with a sauce which resembled something from a chicken takeaway squirt bottle. We will never eat at The Golden Oven again! Geoff Smith & Susan burgesscamden town

I was so impressed with the reviews at the Golden Oven, that I thought I would try it for a ladies group meal and we had a wonderful evening. The food was plentiful and delicious and the service was incredible. I spoke to the manager beforehand to arrange a menu so that we could pay a set price and he had several suggestions to help the evening run smoothly. It is hard to please a large group, but I was thrilled that so many said they would go back again with their partners.

Excellent service and Food was delicious. It's a perfect place to have decent dinner.

The waiting staffs were delightful and attentive with excellently crafted food.

The House Special was well spiced and balanced as any we've ever had, and the vegetable rice made an interesting change from plain pilau.

Definitely will visit this restaurant again. Top marks all round.

I was planning to give 10 out of 10 but thought 9 would be reasonable.

The Golden Oven was a great choice and it certainly impressed my friends who were very surprised to find a quality Indian restaurant in the heart of London.

The service was polite and prompt and the food was excellent and fresh. The only down side is that the restaurant is small but very cosy. We will definitely be going back.

The service at Golden Oven was excellent with very friendly and efficient waiters. They served very hot and tasty food which was not too spicy. (Then again I ordered a mild curry) The only criticism was that the table was not large enough to hold all the food! We look forward to returning soon.
