The ViewLondon Review
This award-winning gastropub keeps standards high and guests happy – The Grove Bar and Restaurant is a star find.
The Venue
Situated in quiet Hammersmith Grove, The Grove Bar and Restaurant has an old fashioned pub skeleton, which has been suitably updated for modern tastes. Everything has been stripped back – the hardwood floors, the tables and the chairs, which allows the warm glow of the natural wood through. Walls are a creamy yellow with dark green wainscoting. There is a small bar in the corner and the room is set up more for eating than drinking with tightly packed tables. There is a lovely terrace with lots of plants, which is popular at all times. A smaller room upstairs can be hired out.
The Atmosphere
The colours at The Grove Bar and Restaurant are inspired by the Mediterranean, as is the menu, in this family-friendly spot. The warmth of the med extends to the service and the contented demeanor of the professional crowd who frequent this charming venue.
The Food
The menu changes twice daily using fresh and mostly organic ingredients. The cooking is modern European and has won many accolades, although it has the gastropub prices to match rather than spit and sawdust pub prices.
The Drink
The Grove Bar and Restaurant provides organic and non-organic wine, standard and premium ales, and cocktails. Look out for the Happy Hour with many drink specials, which are excellent value for money.
The Last Word
The Grove Bar and Restaurant is long established as a favourite in this locality. The fact that it is busy most nights speaks for itself.
