Loved it! Been twice in one week with different friends and all enjoyed it. Great views, good value. Staff attentive. Have lived in the area nearly 20 years, and only found out about it 2 months ago. That's why it's usually empty. They need more P.R.

The Heights had the potential to offer a nice setting for a business dinner, overlooking London. Unfortunately the actuality was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had.

Service... what service? After arriving on time we were made to wait 15 minutes for our table despite the fact that there were only 2 other tables occupied in the entire restaurant area. Drinks orders were only taken for half the party whilst we waited and then when the drinks did arrive, the table was finally ready at the same time. For those of the party who did receive drinks, they were made poorly and were certainly not recognisable as the drinks they were meant to be. In good faith we were seated and ordered our food, hoping this was a small glitch in what was generally good service. Oh how wrong we were.

No bread was offered to our table, despite other tables being offered. Our orders were taken and despite the menu stating food was freshly prepared, we were not prepared for the long wait that ensued. Some of this wait was filled by waiting to see if our request for the wine list would be fulfilled. After 15 minutes we were bored with waiting and fetched the menu from the bar ourselves. 5 minutes later, the waitress finally brought the wine list.

The starters were poor. Some dishes were so poorly thought out and executed they were inedible. We especially had high hopes for the Tea Smoked Duck Salad. What was brought out was iceberg lettuce smothered in salad creme with tiny morsels of shredded duck embedded within the folds of creme. The asparagus was cold and nearly raw and was going wrinkly with how long it had been since it was actually cooked.

After another long wait and chasing the staff for some sort of service, the evening had turned into a farce. With only 3 other tables of diners (small groups of 2-4 people), we were amazed and how long everything took and how hard it was to find a member of staff to place a drinks order with.

Clearly whoever is running this place has no sense of what opportunity they're missing.

The menu descriptions were tempting, but the reality of what was served was less than inspiring. The food tasted bland and was unexciting.

Staff were clearly not interested, I had to wait 5 minutes at an empty bar waiting for someone in order to ask for our bill, as we had not had any staff pass by our table.

Views were great, but I won't go again.

Avoid this place at all costs. If I could award it no stars I would.

We should have left when we saw the restaurant was empty and the front of house staff couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge our arrival or take our coats.

Food was poor, service was almost non-existent. They brought the wrong wine and the wrong food. One of our guests has to have a what free diet and was told one of the dishes was wheat free and it turned up with bread on the top.

A great view completely wasted on a poor venue run by people who don't care about their jobs, their employer or their customers.

Stay away from this terrible Fawlty Towers-style restaurant, the worst I have visited in many years.

A table was booked for 12 on a Friday night, but we seemed to be almost the only people eating there. After sitting for an hour, our starters not having arrived, the waiter then came round to order desserts! The explanation being that the 'kitchen was about to close' (at 9pm on a Friday!) - not clear who was going to cook our starters and main courses, or maybe they were just to be shoved in a microwave.

Several of us had ordered sweetcorn soup for starters, but what turned up was an unidentifiable green slop - clearly not sweetcorn; it appeared to be peas or other leftover green veg put through a blender. But the waiter declared it 'freshly prepared' as he handed it round, as if the exceptional honour of having something freshly prepared (rather than re-heated) meant that it was far too much to expect to receive what we had actually ordered.

For desserts the menu included cheesecake and also a selection of cheeses. But those who had ordered cheese were given cheesecake. 'Surely cheesecake and cheese aren't the same thing?' we asked the waiter. 'Oh, they can be', he assured us. And nothing could be done about it, as the kitchen was now closed.

The temperature in the restaurant was by now freezing cold. We were asked to vacate the table and move to the bar so we could have coffee. But it turned out no coffee was available, as 'the machine was broken'. So after a few minutes talking, we went to the bar, to see if we could instead order tea, or indeed other drinks, but were informed by the bartender (standing behind the bar) that the bar was now closed. He did however deign to provide tapwater, the only drink it seemed he was able to offer. We departed soon after.

I urge you once more: stay away from this terrible restaurant, where food, drink, heating and indeed customers are it seems all too troublesome for the st

Regarding the previous user review for The Heights, the same thing happened to a friend of mine. At the end of an evening with friends at The Heights he was presented with a bill for nearly £300 which the bar staff demanded he paid, saying some of his guests had left without paying. Investigation showed the tab had in fact been run up by an adjoining table who had since done a runner.

Perhaps the bar staff at The Heights need to keep a closer control on who they are serving.

Met up with friends at The Heights recently and it's certainly in an impressive location - not sure about the decor though: rather "70s trendy" in my view. Still, pleasant atmosphere and the snack dishes we tried were good.

The reason I'm writing is when it came to paying, we noticed about £40 of extra drinks on our bill. We queried this, and were shown individual receipts for rounds ordered. As expected, we found 3 or 4 complete rounds that were not ours. Eventually, we got someone to do a correct bill. Meanwhile a barman who hadn't been involved started ranting at us for eating into staff tips, rudely ignoring his own customers. As I object to staff overcharging in order to get tips, I won't be going back to The Heights!
