Went on a Sun aft. Great food. I had a very nice veg pathia, was part of a group of 10, everyone said they had enjoyed it. There were 3 children in our group the waiters were really welcoming and great with the kids. Excellent service and lovely food, would def go back.
This is deffo my fave restaurant in Brick Lane. I've had several parties here as well as taken friends and family here. The manager and staff are very friendly and attentive, the food is delicious well portioned and great value for money!
Was pretty average. Reasonable priced though and nice food.
Was very quiet only another couple on the next table, i would of thought with the reviews that it would be buzzing.
Would go to another restaurant though.
I lived near Brick Lane for a year and used to go to the Indian restaurants fairly frequently. I tried many of them, and Monsoon was clearly my number one choice. The Indian dishes were very tasty. I like to explore different ones, but the safer creamy ones such as Pasanda or Tikka Marsala were also wonderful.
However in the last 3 years their service and quality seems to have gone down. The food is just average now - no worse no better than other restaurants. I'd explore other restaurants now.
Awful taseless food. Papadoms seemed like biscuits, chutneys seemed like it had been to other tables before ours, starters seemed like a mini ping pong ball, curry looked nasty and tasteless and was only luke warm, the staff unfriendly and rude. avoid
Excellent for large groups - we were a group of 30, the curry was excellent and we all got very drunk for only £15 each. Highly recommended.
My husband & I came to London for the weekend to celebrate his 50th birthday. Being curry lovers particularly Bangladeshi food, I trawled the web for reviews for Brick Lane. I liked the sound of 'The Monsoon' and we were not disappointed. We were welcomed with a smile, swiftly seated, our drinks order was taken within 5 minutes and food ordered in soon after. The food was DELICIOUS, & HOT. Portion sizes were larger than average. It is one of the tastiest curries I have eaten. Considering how busy the place was too we were never made to feel as though we needed to 'hurry up' as our table was required (a feeling you often get in busy indian/bangladeshi restaurants). The bill was a very respectable £34 for 2 huge starters, 2 delicious curries, 2 rice, 1 side dish, 1 bread & 4 drinks. Real value for money. As we left, we spoke to 'Shamz', the manager, who thanked us for visiting The Monsoon and also gave us a complementary drink for my husbands’ birthday. The other plus side to this restaurant was they were not touting for trade on the street like so many other places in Brick Lane. A definite MUST VISIT. We will certainly return. Thank you.
I organised a party of 30 at The Monsoon and I must say everything was absolutely perfect.
From the initial booking through the manager (who was incredibly helpful) to the great food and service. The table was layed out beautifully for us and my friends all enjoyed themselves very much. The waiters were very polite and the food was top notch.
I will make no hesitation whatsoever to book a party at The Monsoon again. Quite possibly the best restaurant on the strip!
We were 4 friends walking in Brick Lane to choose a restaurant. Outside Monsoon there were some of its waiters and they told us that we would get a free glass of wine or beer each, if we decided to dine at their restaurant. We ordered the meals, they were very nice, but when we asked for our free drinks, they said that we misunderstood, and that would be no free drinks! We called the manager and he was very rude to us. I don't care about not having the drink, but about people telling us lies outside of the restaurant !
