This place was great if you do not mind having money stolen out of your wallet as your friend gets physically assaulted by the DJ. Then, as you explain this to the manager, you get security called on you as if you were a criminal.

Do not support this kind of behavior/service by giving this restaurant your business.

If you are in a group, don’t even think of coming to this restaurant, the food is excellent, but the service is the worst I have experienced in London for a long time! The manageress on our visit was by far the rudest person I have ever encountered. Even to the point of hostile! You would hope that a restaurant in this neck of the woods would pride itself on service but clearly not. As a birthday lunch, we were treated to ‘a hands on hips’ stand-off shout in the middle of the restaurant when additional members of our party arrived. Although the restaurant was empty (3.30pm towards the end of service on a Saturday) when the final members of our party arrived we were told off for sitting 3 people at a table for 2, not allowed to join the tables in an empty restaurant and made to sit on separate tables apart from each other! All of this would have been fine but even after trying to talk with the manageress she proceeded to conduct a stand up row with us in the middle of service. No apology was issued and no compensation was offered. When we asked to take the service off we had to explain ourselves again to the next shift manager, who seemed at least to take an interest in our situation, but again offered no recompense. In summary good food but not somewhere I would ever recommend or come again. Neither would any or our 15 strong group. A blight on an otherwise lovely day, such a shame.

Forget it! On a Friday night, the two of us we go therefor dinner after 9pm and we're told to wait 45 min at the bar, which we do, however after 1h and 15 minutes we are still waiting (and starving!) so we inquire with the restaurant staff and see plenty of free tables. But they refuse to sit us down as they have to wait for the manager to opine. Another 10 minutes wait, and still nothing : we had to go somewhere else to eat! So much for the expensive pizza - really not worth all the fuss.

First time visiting the Oak on recommendation and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sat downstairs and it had lovely warm friendly atmosphere. Reasonably priced after having a three cause meal plus wine. Monk fish and fungi pizza were lovely. Offered a new desert free of charge after we disliked the one we ordered...topped off a lovely evening. Will be visiting again soon.

We had my husband's birthday lunch downstairs at The Oak last week. It has a great atmosphere, the food really yummy - perfect pickie starters and delicious wine to go with it. So glad the Oak is back after the fire last year and it's better than ever. Can't wait for upstairs to open again this week. We will definitely be seeing more of the The Oak.

If you wanted a culinary masterpiece, you should have booked upstairs at The Oak. The downstairs is quick service with a good atmosphere fix. Whilst upstairs at The Oak is a totally different league.

The Oak does pizza. Which is good if you like pizza but hate all the chains, but bad if you wanted some culinary masterpiece. Oak is in Notting Hill and is fairly cheap though, so for that it deserves a round of applause anyway.
