Is it a pub? Is it a club? Its probably the best of both worlds. My favourite pub in North London. Its good during the week for a few drinks with your pals and the great looking crowd on a weekend usually means I end up there on a Saturday night as well!

simply awful

doorstaff are obnoxious

management insist on forcing you to queue up for ages when there's actually nobody inside. genius!

I would like to say that I use to run bars and clubs, and I know the management at the Old Queens Head and think that they do a fantastic job. I'm sure the only reason for making you wait or queue outside would have been to regulate the amount of people inside the venue, once they are at their legal capacity they can't let anymore people in and although it may have looked quiet from the outside there may have been a lot of people upstairs. As for the door staff, aren't they all a little obnoxious? I think they have to be when dealing with hoards drunken folk.

I say keep up the good work Old Queens Head. - Report

I saw James Lavelle from Unkle play at the Old Queens Head last week and it was amazing, the place was rammed, I can't believe I got in to see him play! Amazing

I came to the old queens head a few weeks ago and had a pleasent time. Thought the upstairs was way too crowded, but i enjoyed the music, which usually isn't my kind of thing! I really liked the downstairs and if i go back again i'll go during the week instead of on a friday. Definitely worth a look as a pub rather than as a club.

It's an OK place in general, however, as a wheelchair user - a disabled toilet is a must for a social session. Also, on my visit most of the staff struggled with English, which was a shame.

I went to the Old Queens Head for the first time over the weekend and it was fantastic, great Dim Sum food and the house wines were delightful. A lovely atmosphere and experience.

The Old Queens Head is my favourite London Pub, its great in the sumer to have a few drinks outside but i really love the upstairs room for a party or some live music. I met the guy from Cajun Dance Party after his acoustic set a few weeks back.

I went to the Old Queens Head with some work collegues last Friday for a few quiet drinks after work but we were enjoying ourselves in the pub so much we ended up satying on the whole evening, had some great food and stayed on for the club night. One of the best nights out I've had in London for ages.

Wow - what a perfect place to chill on a Sunday. I was at The Old Queen's Head on Sunday where they had live jazz playing downstairs... lovely acommpliment to a super scrummy roast.

For any american tourist or students out there....and everyone else...

This place was awful. Me and a group of my friends (about 7 in all) were out looking for a place to do a bit of dancing so we walked around but couldn't find anywhere that played hip-hop and R&B. So we asked around a few places and no one was playing what we wanted. Then we came across The Old Queens Head...as with the other places we asked if they were playing hip-hop and R&B....their reply "yeah, upstairs that's all they play...and we've go a great hip-hop DJ".

Yeah right! We paid our £5 and went upstairs. Not only did they not play what they said...but it was ELECTRO. How does one mix electro up with hip-hop. So we waited around for about 30mins hoping they'd change the music...no such luck.

We left soon after and asked for our money back. They denied saying anything about hip-hop....and refused to refund our money.

So word to the wise! If you're looking for a place to hang and hear good music...avoid this pub at all costs!

The old queens head . . . what can I say, it has never let me down and shows no sign of doing so either the place is just oozing with trend and everything relating to what is now and is to be . . . , even went to a folk night there on Tuesday blue my sox off considering I’m a house head . . . . . . . what more can I say . . .on point.

If there is one place that only gets better with time, it is the Old Queens Head. The decor is cosy, comfortable and completely charming. Would recommend to all.

I love this place. The Plump DJs and a great crowd made for one of the best nights out I have had for a long time. Great in the summer for a drink outside (they have a beautiful small garden in the back as well as the area in the front) and then upstairs for a boogie later on. Fantastic!

Head is still rather fuzzy but one thing I am sure of is I saw the Plump DJs at my local boozer. How cool is that?! Was real busy but that is to be expected no matter where those guys play, never mind such an intimate venue. Big thanks to the Plumps, I had a great time at my local and staggered home with no cab or dreaded night bus needed. Big love also to the Queens Head for another great night, see ya next week.

This is the worst pub I have ever been to. Badly organised and moody staff; the bouncers are extremely rude - not only do they not let people go to the upper level where the DJ plays after a certain time giving the excuse that it is overcrowded (you see people coming downstairs but even so they still do not let people in) but also do not keep a waiting list and do not allow people to wait near the stairs. All in all a very bad venue. Never to be visited again!

The Old Queens Head is a cool, cool pub. Good for a quiet few mid-week and the DJs at the weekend rock! And there is a bar maid at The Old Queens Head that I think I'm in love with!

The Old Queens Head sets the standard for drinking in the Islington area. The bar staff are generally great, and there is literally nothing Nigel can’t mix for you. The gigs, sets and music generally is fantastic. A big thumbs up to The Old Queens Head.

I like the inside of the Old Queens Head. The food for the price is average, But there is a bad side - the rude and moody staff! As a group of ten wanting to book a large table, we were refused, because two other tables were booked. Surely the pub has more than two tables? On arrival we were greeted by unhelpful staff.

There are far better staff and cheaper roasts in the same area of N1 than the Old Queens Head.

In my experience, The Old Queens Head is a little gem is not to be missed. I stumbled across it while waiting for a friend and was shocked at how this bar was successfully trendy without being stuck up.

The decor is pleasant and the atmosphere is warm and cosy to match. This bar is IT without even trying! The Old Queens Head also has a great wine list that was well soaked up with the tasty pies on offer.

What a pleasant surprise! The Old Queens Head looks a bit like your typical old man's boozer from the outside but inside it's beautiful. Opulent in fact.

The upstairs function room looks a bit like a victorian living room with chandeliers and an old fireplace, but it has a proper sound system and when I went it went off.

The Old Queens Head is well worth checking out.

Went to The Old Queens Head for a friends birthday. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but once inside I was sold! This pub looks divine and has a great choice of drinks on offer.

We had an area all to ourselves and I'm not one for DJs but these guys had me dancing til my feet hurt! I enjoyed myself thoroughly at The Old Queens Head.

I had a real surprise at the Old Queens Head. It's not what it appears from the outside. This place has a cool mix of people and a really laid back atmosphere. If you head to the Old Queens Head on a Sunday you will hear some awesome reggae mixes.
