The ViewLondon Review
The Park Terrace Restaurant at the leading five star hotel in Kensington, The Royal Garden, is not hip, trendy or even vogue, but it is swish and there is more to it than meets the eye.The VenueWalk through the lobby of the Royal Garden Hotel and you will find the Park Terrace Restaurant at lobby level. Its most notable feature is the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Kensington Gardens and the entrance to Kensington pPlace. Even though the decor is not highly fashionable, the restaurant is elegant with glossed wood fittings and comfortable seating.
The AtmosphereFor those who want peace and quiet and to escape the hustle and bustle of the shopping streets around High Street Kensington, this is a good place to visit. It’s relaxing because not only is the dining room peaceful and spacious but the service is also very good and all the waiters are attentive.
The FoodThe Park Terrace Restaurant offers luxury British food daily, although they also have an East Meets West menu that includes a selection of oriental foods. They serve a selection of breakfasts, lunches and dinners that cover a delicious range of foods. Starters for dinner include things like oysters with a shot of gin and tonic as well as vegetable risotto with courgettes flowers. For main course you might try dishes such as pasta, fish or Cumberland sausage or a grill offering Scottish beef steaks and lamb.
Every so often this restaurant diverts from the British fare and holds a theme festival, including Sri Lankan festival, a seafood festival and a Singaporean festival.
The DrinkThere is a limited wine list with a number of red and white wines available by the glass. There are also about half a dozen champagnes on offer. In addition, there is an impressive choice of cocktails, including the Singapore Sling, Margarita and cosmopolitans, but also some non-alcoholic cocktails.
The Last WordThis is a well located restaurant offering top quality British food in the heart of London, but the reason this restaurant is really worth knowing about is because of its exotic celebratory festivals.
