Had a wonderful meal there last week.
The food is so elegant and beautifully cooked. No, it is not big school dinner portions but why would you want that style of food?
Everything about this place is serene and as others have said, the views are stunning!

Sunday lunch 6 of us. Yes views good layout etc nice. Food portions really the smallest I have seen anywhere and the price is very high at £22.00+ for starter and main only. The food would only have been just 'good enough' to justify the price had the portions been at least adult size. But sadly big thumbs down, was still starving after my tiny meal as we all were. Amazing really! By the way we are all slim fit 30" waist people not big hungry USA eaters by the way!!
Also the service charge had been applied twice to our bill lucky we noticed! The toilets (male) were actually quite dirty and basic, clearly not checked since opening, horrible .
Stick to afternoon tea and cakes that looked Ok for the price from what I saw on other peoples tables, but for a decent lunch just forget it! Complete waste of money and the menu is really not that interesting at all! (actually included fish chips and mushy peas? Good grief!)

BEST views in London! This is a great place to go for Afternoon Tea with the mum! Most beautiful champagne flutes and most delicious desserts - in particular the chocolate fondant, cranberry sorbet and pistachio brittle. Heavenly!

The main selling point of the Portrait Restaurant is an amazing view over the city. Although when you book a table they say there are no guarantees of a window table – take fair warning now – unless you are a celebrity you may still be denied one even if there are several free when you arrive. The table allocation is shocking and the head of reservations, rude. Had we more time we would have eaten elsewhere on principle but having finally been seated at a compromise table (so Jon Snow could enjoy the view we had wanted and booked an early lunch time for) the food was very good and we had no complaints about the table service. If only the front of house could match the quality of the kitchen. Beware.

The view from the Portrait Restaurant is worth every penny of the meal we had. I can't believe London can look so graceful and beautiful! I'd recommend a trip to the Portrait Restaurant, though perhaps more for the view than the cuisine.
