This is a great pub...
Fantastic mix of regulars, first timers and students.
The Prince has become a much loved meeting place for me and my friends while I have been studying at LCC just next door. Sadly the end of my masters means that my tuesdays will no longer be spent at the Elephant, but this will be our pub of choice for uni reunions for some time.
The landlord and staff are always warm and welcoming, and you feel genuinely valued as a customer. Good choice of beers and lagers, and plenty of bottled beers to choose from too, prices are ok for London aswell. Nice big beer garden in the back, and room smoke out front.
The decor is traditional and unfussy which just adds to the character of this old boozer. (I hope it remains this way)
From the outside it may not look like much, but it's well worth taking a peep inside. A great traditional pub.
After celebrating a fantastic New Years Eve here with a friendly mix of students, regulars and family, I decided to hold my 40th Birtheday Party here, and what a great time we had. Tom and his staff look after us from booking to the end, they put on a great spread of food and the area was also decorated with Balloons and so on! You will never find a pub quite like this around Elephant & Castle, it's very unique. We will be coming back on a regular basis, but looking forward to St Patrick's Day the most, as we hear it is stuff of Ledgend!
My wife and I recently held a function at the Prince of Wales and thanks to the attentive staff, wholesome plentiful food, and well priced drinks it was a great success.
The publican pulled out all the stops to ensure everything went smoothly and even though I rashly offered a free bar to our friends this still didn't break the bank.
Overall a very friendly, clean, welcoming pub so if you are looking for a decent drinking establishment in the elephant and castle area make a beeline for The Prince of Wales
Visited this pub today on the way to the Imperial War Museum with some friends. From the outside, the pub was nothing special however, once inside, I found a great atmosphere with polite locals, cheap, nice tasting food (with enormous portions), football on a number of TVs and a delightful landlord. All in all, my time here was very much enjoyed, its just a shame I'm unlikely to be in the neighbourhood again any time soon.
I had a great night at The Prince of Wales many times . It is very very friendly, from cockney to the Irish it's a great formula. The staff are great and I can't recommend it enough. The Prince of Wales is a no-nonsense pub with first class entertainment.
We stumbled across The Prince of Wales and stayed for a pint and found that there are lots of locals and it seemed a friendly place. There are two big areas and lots of room to sit outside in the summer but, sadly, we probably won't be back in the neighbourhood again.
