Breakfast issues from the last review on here now seem to be sorted. Had a great brekky here on Saturday, escaping before the QPR hoards arrive, but as the last review says, they don't seem a 'lairy crowd'. Good service received and enjoyed my time in there. My mates live round the corner from here and just love having it as their local. Good Sunday roasts, decent pub quiz in the week + BYO on a Wednesday I think and just a great all rounder. I want this pub as my local!!
Disappointed! After reading the review on Timeout for "best Breakfasts in London, I visited the Queen Adelaide Pub in Shepherds Bush to try their breakfast, I was left underwhelmed and would describe the food as overpriced, overrated and ordinary. My fiance and I opted for the American style pancake stacks with bacon and orange juice. The restaurant is billed as "gourmet", but if this is gourmet, Mcdonald's breakfast is truly Michelin! The orange juice came out of a long life carton, at the price they were charging you would expect the juice to be at least fresh! As for the pancake. I would call three paper thin pancakes a stack. The bacon looked second hand! And it was a ringer for good quality streaky bacon. The whole thing was topped by woefully service from the unfriendly rasta who begrudgingly served us whom when asked about the smoothies, told us they were unavailable and didn't offer no alternatives. To say that I wouldn't be back soon is an understatement. One disappointed customer!
Lovely newly refurbished pub environment in an up and coming area. However the staff and prices let it down very much which is such a shame as locals would otherwise love to go.Poor service of expensive food in tiny portions.
Lots of laid back lazy and unmanaged staff about.Great pub decor but needs a manager to keep the staff in line.
I have been several times since the refurbishment and I have always been very impressed....
The service has always been absolutely great and the food is unstuffy, well priced and cooked perfectly.
There is another Gastro opened just down the road (you all know the one) that I used to use more often. But it's a little pricey with small portions and I defiantly prefer the atmosphere at the Queen Adelaide. More cosy and intimate.
Well done guys, just what the area needs.
The area has long been waiting for an upgrade to the Adelaide - and this really is a step in the right direction. The menu, while initially a trifle confusing, resulted in an extremely good and interesting meal. The staff are friendly and the welcome warm. Hopefully they will open up the fireplace (they are talking about doing that) as it would give the place a warmer feel. I was very pleased by the place and will be making it a regular stopping point - and for meals. As to pricing, it's not cheap - but then the results are interesting, and that's never cheap. Having said that a main course and pudding for two with a not-so-expensive bottle of wine came to just more than £50.
