I visited recently the RapScallion. I am surprised at some of the previous comments on the quality of the food.
I had tuna with rice and a delicious mango sauce. It is a different but quite effective combination.
I also found staff to be courteous and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant if you want a quick meal in a nice, casual place.
The restaurant is conveniently located close to Clapham Common Tube Station but well away from all the noise of the main road.
Food was awful - the worst I've ever had in a restaurant. The staff were really nice, so we felt bad for complaining.
Nothing was cooked well - some overcooked, some undercooked.
Weird flavours, and not because the chef was trying to be ambitious - it was just poor skill and judgement on the basics.
Won't be going back.
Went there last friday, very disapointed!
Poor quality food, my salmon over cooked and the crumble had a funny taste of out of date butter!
The toilet next to the kitchen are a disgrace!
I was there with a large group of friends (where were quite demanding!) about a month ago and Rapscallion was great, the food, the friendly staff and the scene all works really well. Great wine list too! I am hoping to back there again this evening. Petula
It's been a long time since the last review here, and I have to say from reading the other reviews that the staff service has really turned around. It's actually quite good now. The bad points about this reataurant though are the food is average, the toilets are smelly and the manager swears at the staff. The swearing really wasn't called for, the staff were doing a very good job and it was loud enough for all of the customers to hear. It made our meal really unpleasant. I would not go back.
I am pleased to see that I am not the only person who has experienced poor customer service at this restaurant. I was looking forward to eating here as we only just managed to book a table. Obvioulsy The Rapscallion is quite a popular place.
However, the staff obviously could not cope with it being so busy, and were rude and abrupt. When we politely complained about being kept waiting for our table at The Rapscallion, no apologies were given. We decided to eat elsewhere. I highly recommend Gastro just down the road - inviting, friendly staff and real customer service!
I booked a table at The Rapscallion last weekend. We were kept waiting for nearly half an hour and then treated very rudely for no reason at all (even the people on the next door table were shocked).
I felt so uncomfortable that in the end we left The Rapscallion and went just down the road where we had a lovely meal and were really well looked after.
If you're looking for friendly staff and prompt service I would seriously look somewhere else.
What I like about The Rapscallion is that you can always grab a stool at the bar and have one of their good German beers. They play really great chill out music. Me and my friends always meet at The Rapscallion when we're in Clapham.
The quality of the food at The Rapscallion is always superb and the staff are friendly. Good selection of drinks also and great atmosphere.
