Quite simply the best food in London -

I rang The River Cafe up at 11 on Sunday morning to see if they had space for 2 people for lunch that day. After a minute of checking I was told that they could fit us in though we may have to sit inside. On arrival we were greeted warmly and they apologised no end that they could not seat us outside. From the minute we sat down we where treated like a Kings, our glasses were never empty and the staff were never rude or in the way during the course of our meals, at no point did we feel rushed or pressured to hurry up. I know that the menu changes regularly, so I will not go into what we had, however I will say that everything we ate was superb. The wine recommended to us by the staff was first class. I must say again how excellent the waiting staff were.
At the end of the day, the food was expensive, however it was quite possibly one of the nicest meals I have ever had. If I had to say one thing I disliked, it was the optional surcharge added on at the end. We didn’t pay it though we did leave a tip with the waitress, even then they seemed to be more concerned with our experience than if we'd tipped.
Before we go home to Australia we will definitely be going back there one last time with some friends.

We booked a table at The River Cafe in March for a birthday celebration on 21st June. We then got phoned up today to say that they are cancelling our booking because they are holding a private party that night! The River Cafe gave no apologies, they just left a matter of fact, tough luck message. They have terrible customer service! Best avoided.
