If you’re looking for good British food, a small but complimentary selection of wines and the company of young professionals, the Sands End is definitely a place to frequent.

Being a local on-and-off for the past 2 years, not much has changed with the exception of few new bartenders. Walking in from Stephendale Rd, you are hit with scent of calmness; older couples browsing the daily broadsheets, a few public school boys reminiscing about younger days while enjoying an ale and quietly in the corner, a quartet of rather attractive 20 somethings plotting their next girly weekend while sipping on a chilled bottle of pinot. But it’s nothing like the Imperial Arms on Kings Rd where most clientele survive on an intravenous drip of funds from Mummy and Daddy. Diversity is what makes the ambiance irresistible.

It could be easily said that with this type of simplicity there is a ‘fee’. Mains start at £8 and the only oil you will find on the menu would probably be in the form of truffle on a bed of mushroom risotto, Wines are moderately prices and a Pint of Star is a respectable £3.30. As a starter, I’d definitely recommend the scotch eggs (£2) and or the Colchester oyster in red wine vinaigrette for £1.20 each.

Irrespective of the weather, The Sands End is a place where you can enjoy good food, good wine and people looking for a good time. I’ve just moved back a week ago (4th July) and surprisingly, 3 nights out of 5 – I’ve found myself sitting outside with my flatmates for a quite debrief of the days activity.

The Too So Bar is my local and has been for a wee while now. I really like the place on major sporting events which they play on the big screen (it seems everyone else in Fulham has the same idea). The Too So Bar really packs out and spills onto the pavement- definitely a good spot to down a few.
