Honestly, dog shit would have been a better meal than what I had in The Spot. I was starving like an African child, so I decided to order some Barbeque Sause Ribs and Mac&Cheese. When I started eating the ribs, it was so terrible that I almost barfed in my mouth. I couldn't even finish the first rib. The meat tasted plain but the barbeque sauce was vile, tasted kinda sour and salty. The side dish was macaroni and cheese and one might think what are the chances that someone could fuck up such a simple dish like mac n cheese? But NO, they had to fuck it up. The mac looked like a block of yellow matter and tasted like plastic cardboard with cheese. I would rather suck dick for crack than eat this piece of shit. To top it up, I ordered a Pepsi. I thought, what are the chances that Pepsi could go wrong? It did, the Pepsi tasted like diluted soda mixed with piss water. I highly recommend this to anyone that is seeking for a unique gastronomic experience. This could possibly be one of the worst restaurants in the world.
Following an excellent meal and time on Saturday 17.03.12,I went to order again tonight, and what a disappointment. 1) We ordered at 1925 got there at 2000, food not ready, why because they could not contact me via mobile. Fine (That's my fault-bad reception)the order needed to be substituted, but the rest of the meal should have been ready 2)No apology or attempt to compensate for the extra 40 minute wait 3) When I did receive my order, it appears this particular cat fish had been on a diet.
The Spot does good food, can't lie, but it needs to work on its customer service. Won't be making another trip over the river again.
The Spot Restaurant is very literally One of a Kind! The food has a Magical taste and flavour that I can not desribe any other way! Many people recommended that I try the food but no matter how much they raved on about it - it just did not prepare me for just how good it was! :-)the only thing that I really wish is that they set up a restaurant closer to where I live i. E. Somewhere near the Queens Park/ Maida Hill area. Also, I really hope that The Spot extends their premises so that we can eat-in & I can bring my friends their to dine out for an evening! Absolute Genious! I know that they will expand - its absolutely inevitable! I just hope that when they start to expand that the quality of the food does not suffer - like with other restaurants (that have loads of branches). Absolutely Love The Place! :-)
I love The Spot!! The food is one of a kind! so delicious and filling. Just what I need after a long day at uni and work. Although there need to be more open around london. I travel pretty far to get to The Spot which can be a hassle sometimes. I believe your next "spot" (location) should be around north london Dalston. Dalston is a great location with many shops, I seriously recommend it :)
Honestly SPOT, THE is amazing! The concept through to the quality of the food is brilliant. To have a chicken and waffle place like this in london is just so amazing im almost speechless. Firstly the fried chicken is the finest i've sampled for a long long time, possibly ever. Secondly the ability to create a traditional (dream like) fast food feel to the place (which is not easy when producing food on such a small scale) is just sensational. The waffles are brilliantly American, synthetic and unbelievably tasty which is just what you want from a roscos style chicken and waffle place. All the sides have that brilliant sweet traditional fast food flavor and the coloured cups, decor, tables and serving boxes really finish the job nicely. I will be going back again and again and again. So delighted to have found SPOT, THE in such unassuming surroundings. Love it
Quality food, great atmosphere and service definitely recommend it to anyone
Great vibes and even better food, definitely a place to visit again
Variety of great food, drinks and service. 10/10.
great food and great people, i found out about the spot from a friend and decided to check it out , i was pleasantly surprised to find such a welcoming atmosphere in my local area. Would definitely reccommend the mash potato and sticky bbq ribs combination with a oreo milkshake
I saw an advertisment on someones facebook page for the spot as well as having a curiousity for what soul food is. So when I was in the area, I thought I'd try it out. Well I was pleasantly suprised with the food. Actually it was delicious and I wish they were located closer to my home. As well as the food being lovely, I was very impressed with the service. And was even given some recipes, which I have tried and must say it tasted just as good. However I definately intend to eat here again. Everyone give it try.
I've seen soul food on TV many times and a friend told me about "the spot" and said the food was great so i thought I'd check it out with my girl. I had sticky barbecue ribs, mac n cheese, cornbread and waffles, my girl had catfish , greens, rice and coleslaw. WOW!!! Is all I can say. It was definitely one of the best meals I've ever had!!! I highly recommend it, its worth the travel. We live in Essex.
It is rare that I would take the time to review, but with a place this bad, I feel I must say something. The spot claims to cook real 'homestyle soul food', what complete rubbish! The food was most obviously packet made; macaroni and cheese being dry and tasteless and the corn bread tasting like cardboard. The marinade on the ribs is sickly sweet and the ribs themselves nothing but fat and gristle. What a complete disappointment. I can only recommend to stay away! Thumbs down.
