I have had to call the environmental health board in southwark and file a food safety complaint. on Tuesday evening I stopped by work. I asked to try a tiny bit of the house white first to see if it was drinkable but for some reason he brought me a full glass. I tried it and it was awful so I asked for a king fisher instead. I heard the waiter go around the corner and take the cap off the white pour the remainder of my fullish glass in, screw the cap back on and return it to the fridge. I challenged him about it and he said he poured it down the sink. He did NOT.
Then I looked at my two poppadoms and there was a short black curly hair on the top one. It looked like pubic hair :(
I complained about that and he offered to get me a new one but I had lost all confidence in health standards then. What must the kitchen look like? No wonder the back -wash wine is so foul. I hope they shut them down.
I have been using this restaurant regularly for years. Whilst the interior is a bit cramped, it is clean and the staff are friendly.
In terms of quality and value for money I don`t think you will do better in this part of London and it is light years ahead of the tourist trap curry houses over the river.
I go fairly often to the Thames Tandoori as it is close to our offices. Lovely authentic atmosphere. Polite and fast service. Portions are generous. Try the chicken Jalfreezi if you like spicy food. The naan bread is delicious. One of the reviewers was upset about a "not eating" charge. Come on! These people need to earn their keep by selling food.
I am so glad that I went to the Thames Tandoori Restaurant. It was fantastic! The food was really exceptional and the service unbeatable. I found this restaurant in a league of its own.
There are very few restaurants that I have visited of this quality, and I hope that the Thames Tandoori Restaurant continues to provide this type of food and service.
Overall my experience was exceptional.

Thames Tandoori Restaurant offers delicious authentic food. They have lovely dips with the poppadoms which are made with fresh coriander.
Chilli lovers visiting Thames Tandoori Restaurant must try the wonderful Naga Chicken made with Bangladeshi habaneros! Excellent service and very good value.
I was utterly disgusted by this excuse for a restaurant. I have just returned from Thames Tandoori Restaurant and feel it necessary to warn others about this place.
After arriving in Waterloo from a long day out at the Oval (England Vs. Australia) - we decided on a curry, finding only Thames Tandoori Restaurant in the area. After placing an order for starters and drinks, one of the party was not hungry for a main course - and so declined when asked. Immediately the waiter became very hostile, and threatened that we would have to pay an extra £5 PER head - for the privilege of drinking a beer!! Considering they were charging £5 for a cobra anyways meant that £10 a beer was NOT funny. Fair enough, licensing laws etc. mean that you need to eat with your drink - however the fact that he was so rude - and that he threatened to kick us out was the final straw. Those that did eat complained of bland taste, tiny portions and long waiting times - even thought the restaurant was fairly empty (on a Thursday night).
All in all, Thames Tandoori Restaurant is a terrible place that I hope no one else has to experience!!
Thames Tandoori Restaurant's not a bad place if you're looking for somewhere to eat in this rather uninspiring area. The meal we had was very enjoyable, but didn't really rival some of the better Indians I've been to.
Not too many complaints from me, but I don't think I'll be making a special trip back to Thames Tandoori.
