Situated in the heart of the legal district, Torts attracts suited city types from surrounding Fleet Street and Chancery Lane as well as students from nearby law schools. Torts is the uni student bar - all grown up!

The Venue
Torts decor is smart-casual with parque flooring and floor-to-ceiling glass brick panelling. Decorated in shades of blue, the main room boasts full length alcoves with fitted mirrors, making good use of the space and giving Torts a sense of airiness. The bar, where you can be served your drinks as well as sit and eat your meal, is a unique feature – two tiered with parallel wavy lines and blue lighting.

The Atmosphere
With only a touch of student bar about it, Torts has some striking original features – overhanging glitter lights, magazine racks stuffed full of the trendiest fashion and travel mags and glass board games. By no means has the slight student feel prevented the suited types from holding business lunches here during the busiest hours.

The staff are attentive and casual in their approach though professional in their service. The music is just right – funky, to match the diverse mix of customers.

The Food
Torts gives you an option of one of two menus. The house specials offer the more traditional of the dishes such as roast beef or Hot Pot and the reasonable price includes a glass of wine, pint of lager or soft drink. The other option is the main menu, where great care has been taken to cater for their vegetarian clientele with options such as Tuscan tomato soup and sun dried tomatoes and roasted pepper risotto. The non-vegetarian main courses are equally well thought out with value for money chicken and steak options.

The Drink
The impressive wine list is longer than the main menu and includes reds, whites and roses as well as a Fine Wines at Torts section. Wines vary in price from budget to expensive and extends to include a wide variation of Champagne.

The Last Word
Don’t be intimidated by the suited clientele that Torts attracts as its most appealing factor is its laid back, chilled out atmosphere. Where the student feel meets city chic.
