Disappointing, really want to love it as I like supporting independent cafes etc, but service is painfully slow and reluctant. On one occasion the waitress completely ignored me while she had a long chat with a friend then reluctantly rolled her eyes in my direction without verbally acknowledging me or the fact that I had waited for several minutes. I also e mailed them asking for a recipe on behalf of my mother in law who loved their (delicious) olive oil rosemary lemon cake. No response at all, so I haven't been back and won't now return. Look after your customers Trinity! I'm hoping Lavish Habit will show us how it's done.

Sadly I have to agree with the last two reviewers. The food at Trinity is excellent, but the staff are such a let down. It is extremely disappointing that the owners don't seem to recognise that service is everything! Listen to the customer, and give them what they want - it seems simple, but these guys can't seem to manage that. Shame.

I live locally and pop in to Trinity Stores regularly to do a small shop. About 2 months ago, I decided to order lunch. I ate a well presented and, tasty sandwich (Salami and Brie with Salad), which was prepared for me as the pre-prepared sandwiches did not suit my taste.

To my horror, on my second visit with my family, I requested the same sandwich but was told that until the pre-prepared ones had been sold they were unable to make me a personalised sandwich Unfortunately, I had already ordered my husband and daughter's lunch so did not want to inconvenience them by cancelling my order. As I only had a short lunch break, I left my family in search of an alternative. The staff were not prepared to budge. I was fuming and explained that employing such a policy simply meant they would lose my custom in future. I did not receive a response.

A month or so later, remembering my initial experience I thought I would try again thinking the staff member just had a bad day on my last trip. Wrong. Once again I asked for a Salami and Brie sandwich, which was not on display and once again I was told that it was the manager's policy that new sandwiches could not be prepared blah blah blah. Once again I explained that the policy was not sensible and they clearly did not need my custom. They refused to budge.

It's really not the way to conduct business especially as after my first sandwich, I had identified Trinity Stores as place I could visit regularly for lunch with my family. I will no longer be shopping there as I have given them two chances to get it right. Shame really as in the current downturn, business should not be turned away unecessarily. I will simply seek alternatives and there are plenty there.

Wish I could disagree, but I've had similar experiences lately; for instance, when the 'breakfast' menu was temporarily discontinued, leaving only croissants and cakes on offer, and on another occasion when the staff argued that they didn't have a 'tea and cake deal', when we were sitting underneath the notice advertising it! While the food is lovely, the service can be offhand to positively unfriendly, and it's starting to let down what could be a great local asset. During a credit crunch, coffee at £2.10 a cup, or a Scotch egg at £5 with a little salad, served with a minimum of charm and very loud music, is pushing it. We were regulars a year ago, when everything was a lot more endearing and friendly - now we either go to the miserable French place round in Hildreth Street, or stay in, make our own coffee grumpily, and save £15. PLEASE send the staff to charm school, Trinity Stores owners - it's costing you custom!

Love Trinity Stores - it's a perfect neighbourhood deli, with well-sourced cheeses, wines, and breads, great coffee and cooked breakfasts that go on until 4pm. Service is charming and quite idiosyncratic - in a good way! Haven't used the catering service, but their delivered hampers are an excellent idea. One of the best additions to Balham in recent years.

This little deli is proving quite useful. Birthday party for 6yr old, twelve friends and 24 parents, grandparents and out-laws all catered for for £6 a head. The simple food was excellent: great sausage rolls, sandwiches, kebabs, crisps and juices (adults had to be told to leave enough for little ones - must be a good thing). A fab cake that didn't send the kids into head-long sugar rush. Good wine for the adults and even nice glass hire. First time a Dad has arranged a successful 'family' event. I might even arrange the next.

I have to agree with the other reviews Im afraid. Its such a shame as the food is good and I would definatly go there regularly. The staff are downright rude and reluctant to communicate with you. I had a horrible experience there when I went with 4 friends for lunch and the waitress just ignored me and when she finally spoke to me it was very rude. It upset me and so I didnt enjoy what should of been a really nice lunch with my friends. I was a regular but I havent been for about a year now. Lavish across the road is sooo much more friendlier!

I can't think of a better deli than Trinity Stores. Lots of well sourced goods, with a strong emphasis on interesting, seasonal British fare. The cafe is really warm and friendly, as are all the staff. Trinity Stores serves good value freshly prepared food. Excellent!

It's so nice to go to a Deli with food you want to eat and can afford. The staff at Trinity Stores are helpful and you can sit for hours at the large table grazing on cake. I would like to see a better coat hook in the odd blue floor lavatory though Trinity Stores!

Trinity Stores are amazing, I love how fresh and well presented everything is. You can tell they really care about food here and I can even get produce from good old Kent, my homeland! I'd recommend Trinity Stores for a coffee and to peer at all the interesting food.
