I travel to London about twice per year. The first step after booking a flight is securing a table at Veeraswamy. It is my favourite restaurant, anywhere. Its tradition , its service , its high quality food and wonderful cocktails all justify a much higher price . It is in London s west end after all! My grandfather ate there in the 20 s and 30 s en route to Scotland from Ceylon on home leave from his tea plantation and I m delighted that almost a century later I am able to enjoy Veeraswamy s delightful ambience and colourful delicious food as he did.

I found this restaurant unnecessarily expensive for the pretentious Indian restaurant with very ordinary decor that it is. Some of the food on the menu is presented in a very inauthentic manner. The service agin for what you pay is well below par.

It is great!! The best Indian restaurant I have been so far and I want to come back to try the rest of the menu.
If you like something unusual try Oyster Kebab..you will be surprised!
Staff was very friendly!

You must be very lucky, I have been trying to book a 8pm table at Veeraswamy for the last three years and it is impossible. They give you a 9.30pm table. When you read the menu and order from it the first starter comes at 10.40pm and then the rest comes at 11.15pm. Then they rush you. Not directly but by starting to clear the restaurant and a waiter come five minutes after your main course is served saying the kitchen is closing! The manager is the most rude and atrocious person I have ever seen. I know all this as I have been there at the 9.30pm booking?

How disappointing Veeraswamy was, given the impressive reputation attached to the oldest Indian restaurant in London! No assistance was offered with the menu and as a result an extra dish was ordered and charged for, although that very same dish came as an accompaniment a main dish.

While the portions were ample our waiter forgot to bring one side dish and the flavours unfortunately were not that good. Particularly bizarre was the saag side dish which was in a very liquid pureed form. And having jelly as a dessert option, can only lead one to believe that Veeraswamy caters for a much older generation.

The highlight of our evening was the lychee and rose martini which was heavenly but did little to dispel our dissatisfaction. What a disenchanting experience.

Had heard great things about Veeraswamy but never been. It did not disappoint. The decor is contemporary and carefully thought out but not soulless in the least. The service at Veeraswamy was impeccable and the food very good.

Curry before a night out is not always the best idea, so the Seafood Platter went down a treat. Veeraswamy is on the pricier side but definitely worth the extra expense.

Veeraswamy has undergone a transformation and I wanted to see the new decor. It is beautiful with chandaliers, mirrors and candles.

The food at Veeraswamy is stunning with many of the original dishes on offer. Service was as good as always and this makes for an ideal venue for a special night out.
