The ViewLondon Review
This Italian restaurant in Mayfair comes from the people behind Zafferano and Fiore. The VenueThe play of pinkish saffron light creates an effusion of warmth at this classy restaurant. A spread of Italian breads and cheeses before the bar area catches your eye as you set foot in the restaurant and beckon irresistibly. The Italian posters adorning the walls give the place a distinctly Italian air. The ensemble manages to be informal, yet elegant.
The AtmosphereThe staff’s inimitable charm will render your experience delightful. They boast pedigrees of having worked with Alain Ducasse and Gordon Ramsay, so expect professionalism at its best. The impeccable service is worthy of the well-healed clientele.
The FoodThis is not one of the run-of-the-mill menus you usually find in Italian restaurants, even the top end ones. The constantly changing menu manages to integrate a wide variety of regional specialities. There is a lot of game, including rabbit and wild boar, but there is much emphasis on Neapolitan cuisine, with some fantastic fish preparations. You know that a super chef is cooking for you when even something relatively simple like the aubergine and mozzarella timbale becomes a gastronomic delight, because it is so gorgeously prepared and presented. Pasta doesn’t get much better than what you get here. As for dessert - mama mia! The lemon and strawberry mille feuille, the chef’s speciality, is a slice of heaven that melts in your mouth.
The DrinkIt isn’t usual to find champagne on every table of a restaurant, but the champagne is so good here you’ll inevitable order a bottle. The wine list is no less sensational and the expert sommelier will match each course with the wine that perfectly complements it.
The Last WordThis is one of the few restaurants where you immediately want to go back for your very next meal.
