I love this place.. great food, great wine.. good service... def 5 stars
I was there as part of a leaving do, and was recommended the quail curry, which turns out to just fantastic, so much so it inspired me to try and cook it the following day, mine wasn't good, in fact it was a bit of a disaster! Also this place gets busy, fast! fortunately we finish early on Fridays, so after some drinks at the refurb Owl and Pussycat, we arrived just before 7pm, within 30 minutes upstairs, and downstairs was packed, but the staff, were very efficient, and if we need more drinks (we did) you could get their attention easily! My 1st experience of Vietnamese food, but certainly not my last!
My whole class has gone, everyone knows it even if they haven't been. It look as though it is expensive especially in Viet Grill but it isn't.
The best thing is that they actually have good wine available picked for the meal.
Its so simple but dont let that confuse you, with a bar downstairs and proud to be one of the only 100% fresh Vietnamese dishes and the fact is has hands down beaten all other restaurants in terms of reviews its pretty clear that the Vietnamese Kitchen chain: Viet Grill (Shoreditch) and Cay Tre (Hoxton) is the best Vietnamese food available in London.
We know they are the best in East London for sure so if you live there stop faffing around and go to one of them.?
The best Vietnamese in London, or outside Vietname maybe. They do Pho and other things like traditional vietnamese lotus stem salad so goooood.I was in Hoxton last nite, Halloween night, and ws queuing for 45 mins even I have booked.
I was so angry but requested to see the manager but somehow no one there is manager, I wanted to leave for the others Vietnamese in Kingsland Road.
The lady on the table next to me told me that you were lucky to have a table, and let give it a try. Then the food come. Soooo amazing, I have tried pho at westfield, pho at Song Que, pho in Vietnam, in France, in Australia, in London, in California but this is the winner.
The broth is so fragrant, the meat is so beefy, the onion is so fresh. Then the lotus salad is so crunchy and tasty, the oven baked markerel with lemongrass is one if the best way in the world to cook fish.
I so love it.I forgive the mess up with the booking, and will be back here to try the rest of the menu. I love it, Cay Tre in London
Despite its Westernized, modern and contemporary look, Viet Grill serves all kinds of authentic Vietnamese food.
I have tried Vietnamese food in other restaurants along Kingsland road but then, I stick with Viet Grill.
Dark wood furniture with white paint give this restaurant a clean, simple but impressive appearance.
The food and drinks menus in here rarely change but they have ‘seasonal food menu’ instead. I especially fall in love with all kinds of soup noodles with some rolls and wraps for starters.
For main course, you really should try their duck or beef dishes. Though it’s seemingly busy all night time, the food is still well served and flavorous.
