Far too expensive for what it is. Food is not of a great standard. Is over crowded at busy times and the tables are too close together. Service isn't great, takes ages to catch the eye of the staff. Better places to go in the the area.

I've been to Village East twice...the first time was a lovely experience (although very pricey) we had a lovely waitress who was friendly and helpful. The drinks take a while to arrive but thats probably because it was so busy!
The second time was awful...it was my graduation night and I'd gone with my parents and boyfriend. It was really really noisy and the table next to us were screaming and howling...we asked them to keep it down and they started shouting at us!! It completely ruined our evening. The food is delicious but you'd have a much better night someone abit cheaper and where you get bigger portions

Village East is an all time favourite.. Used to live around the area and would pop in at any given time for a cocktail or some supper. I moved away one year ago and last week happened to be in the area and paid them a visit... what a surprise!! The staff always used to be very friendly and the food good, but Village East has now overdone itself... Me and my friend were greated by a very smiley, friendly and, to say the least, gorgeous receptionist who asked to have a drink at the bar while waiting for our table - it was a Wednesday night and they were quite busy! - The atmosphere in the bars was great; buzzing and relaxed at the same time. Had a couple of cocktails very well served and a bit of a chat with a very friendly bartender before being showed to our table. The restaurant was amazing too. They must have done something with the decor, somehow it now comes together even more.. Service was very good and so was the food - scallops are to die for!! Staff were friendly but not intrusive and, overall, I had one of the most enjoyable nights so far!!
I left the place regretting to have moved so far.. well worth the trip to SE1 though!!

Village East is a great venue with lovely decor and if you are in the area well worth popping in for a drink. On the occasion that we went we were booked in for lunch and decided to have cocktails first. It took the bar person 40minutes to prepare five cocktails! We had definitely worked up a thirst by this point, if it had been terribly busy we may have understood but it wasn't. We were booked in for lunch and although the food was reasonable it's nothing to get excited about. An £11.00 salad was ordered by one of us and for that you get a few leaves, two transparent slices of apple, four croutons and a "shop bought" dressing, very disappointing. Several of us had salmon with a mustard sauce, again over exaggerated description of the word "sauce", "speck" would have been better suited. To top it off a £35.00 charge was added for service, what service? The staff took our order and that was it. we felt robbed to say the least and on leaving myself and another guest actually went and bought more food elsewhere because we were so hungry!

Village East does a good range of wines to accompany their food, unlike many other establishments. I was very taken with the waiting staff at Village East, as they actually seemed to care about how we enjoyed our meal and whether or not we were comfortable. They went out of their way to ensure we had a good time. Well done Village East.

We went to the Village East for supper last night and ended up having loads of cocktails! Very nice, but very hungover this morning. Still, was worth it for the lovely barman and his cheeky grin. Get yourself to Village East ladies!
