Amazing half price cocktails when I visited with my friend on Wednesday - food was a little expensive but super tasty, with a really really nice beer garden.
Service was also excellent.
I have been in Muswell Hill for the past year and to be honest except for the odd lunch time in one of the many restaurants that Crouch End has to offer I had never been to the Villiers Terrace. I was at the Villiers Terrace on Friday purely by chance and to be honest it knocked the spots off anything that Muswell Hill has to offer. Excellent cocktails and the dj was on fire, me and the girls we had one of the best times out since I have been in London (which is about 3 years). Top class service from excellent barmen and the music was just right, we had a dance and a really enjoyed our time there. The only negative thing I have to say is. Why close at 1am! Otherwise excellent and keep it up!
What an amazing New Year at Villiers Terrace. The food was amazing and the place was packed! Obviously it isn't usually as bustling and I was pleasantly surprised that standards didn't drop on such a busy night. They did a NYE special four course menu that included a glass of champagne for a fixed price of £35. It was worth every penny. We were a group of 15 and surprisingly everything was delectable. Every single one of us enjoyed our meal. After the food the music got going and the atmosphere was, as to be expected on NYE, electric. We were all in the mood and the night turned out to be great fun! The staff were friendly and polite. Everyone had a good time. I would highly recommend Villiers to anyone and the food is certainly too good for a pub. Definitely my favorite gastro pub in North London.
Freezing eating area, almost half of us kept our coats on for over two hours.
Unpleasant service from telephone booking to seating.
Surly waiters seemed cross that we wanted a drink first - this place is listed as a pub and diner and why we chose the venue.
Despite ordering two bottles of champagne and bottles of wine we were then told we could not sit in our original reserved seating area. This was a midweek night...we wanted to sit at a table not only to eat but hoped it would be warmer. They relented after some fuss, despite our group already having spent about £150.
The small portions of food were very average and distinctly overpriced.
Not a place to return to.
I'd heard a lot about Villiers Terrace providing the best sunday roast in the area so I decided to take a friend there today. The roast was good - we had the beef, however marks deducted for only one very small yorkshire pudding and not enough roast potatoes.
The roast chicken looked excellent though. Overall 7.5/10 for the roast and a disappointment on the expectation that had been set in my mind.
The worst thing was that the meal that was served was luke warm at best so we asked for it to be sent back. The staff were fine about this, and did apologise, and the next one that turned up was thankfully piping hot.
Now onto the service - it was just too rushed, over-bearing and un co-ordinated. We had about 4 waitresses attending to our table at different times (there were only two of us so surely one or a maximum of two would do) with no co-ordination between them to the extend that after sitting down with our pints (half-full because we'd been waiting for a table at the bar) we were almost instantaneously asked if we wanted 'more drinks'.
It would have been nice if they could have waited until we had nearly finished what we had. We then asked for a wine menu and then minutes after receiving it another waitress was very keen to take it away to another table before we'd decided what we wanted.
To be honest we just wanted to take our time and order the wine at a leisurely pace just ahead of the meal arriving. Eventually we did order two glasses of wine - and then 2 minutes later a different waitress turned up and asked us if we wanted to order some drinks.
This all adds up to a very frustrating and rushed experience from the customer perspective. Then finally the icing on the cake, after finishing the meal, we are finishing our wine - my friend's glass is empty and mine a half full glass of pale white wagoner wine.
The waitress tried to take it away and I had to say I wasn't finished.Good
