The ViewLondon Review
Vingt Quatre is a reliable, upmarket brasserie for 24 hour eating out in Fulham. The VenueThe large cool room is done up in quiet tones of grey and beige, some banquette seating and soft lighting. Although it stays open 24 hours (hence the name) it does not have the feel of an all night diner. It’s particularly good for nursing a hangover, however.
The AtmosphereThe service is friendly and unobtrusive. Vingt Quatre isn’t cheap, but the food is of high quality and it’s the place to come with your gang when you have exhausted all other Fulham Road options.
The FoodAll the usual brasserie and comfort fare is available, from steaks to burgers. Eggs Benedict are great for mopping up the alcohol, whilst other staples are competently done. If you are there at daybreak, the full English breakfast will help hangovers although you can get healthy muesli also. Lunchtime offers of Caesar salad and miso-glazed baby back ribs are delicious.
Late night switches into upmarket diner food; eggs figure strongly with sirloin sandwiches along with croque monsieurs. The chips are crisp on the outside and perfect on the inside. Desserts are of the rib sticking brownie and banoffee pie variety.
The DrinkThere’s a short, good value wine list, if you need any, and great Bloody Marys. Teetotalers could get Innocent smoothies, fresh juices and therapeutic teas. The fresh mint and ginger infusion is delicious. Not that many places have iced coffee on the menu so thumbs up for that.
The Last WordThere aren’t many choices after midnight, so Vingt Quatre is a reliable stop for the Chelsea set.
