I was at Weng Wahs on a Friday night for their set menu karaoke offer. Whilst the food was reasonable and the karaoke fun, the service left a lot to be desired.
1) One of our group was delayed so the manager offered to keep some starter aside in preparation for their arrival. This never materialised even though it was requested.
2) Whilst clearing the dishes from the main course, one of the waitresses spilt a glass of wine on one of our seats. No apologies, no new glass...not even a dry chair!
3) Whilst clearing our glasses at the end of the night, the Manager himself spilt water over my trousers (note the ongoing theme here). I had to tell him 3 times before he begrudgingly apologised - he was too busy taking our money and credit cards.
You know where their priorities lie - get the crowd drunk and don't worry about the rest. Given that we had just spent £300 at his establishment and paid £30 for the "service" (10% is automatically added to your bill), I thought the arrogance of the Manager was disgusting.
If you want good Chinese food and a karaoke night, I would recommend going to Chinatown then head to a karoke bar in Soho.
