The ViewLondon Review
We have a lot to thank Alan Yau for, as the man responsible for introducing millions to Oriental cuisine via his Wagamama chain. Yauatcha is the latest venture from Mr Yau, which, along with the delectable Hakkasan, is one of only two Chinese restaurants in the country to have been awarded a Michelin star. The VenueYauatcha is, first of all, aesthetically stunning. There are fish tanks on the walls, the atmosphere is vibrant and the clientele appealing to look at. Begin to order and it gets better still. Some complain at the strictly-adhered-to 90 minute sittings, but with prices this reasonable, few could complain.
The MenuThere are 24 types of Dim Sum to choose from at Yauatcha, and a staggering 150 varieties of tea. The Dim Sum are utterly delicious – perfectly steamed, beautifully layered, flavour-rich delicacies with wonderful garnishing. Jasmine Tea, Smoked Organic Ribs and Lobster Pumpkin Dumpling shouldn’t be missed.
Other highlights include the Roasted Silver Cod with Red Date, Lily Flower and Kwaifa Rice Wine. For briefer tete a tetes, a tea room upstairs features some exceedingly good cakes.
The Last WordIt is no surprise that Yauatcha has officially been named one of the world’s hundred best restaurants, contributing to London’s proud status as culinary capital of the world. In short, Yauatcha delivers high-quality, authentic Chinese cuisine in a comfortable, stylish setting. Recommended.
