My partner and I went on a Sunday evening so it was a quiet night. We'd like to try it on a busier night.We were pleasantly surprised to find such a good restaurant in this area.

The staff were very pleasant, and it was a relaxed atmosphere.The food was very good, particularly the starters: I had pate which came with very tasty bread and a stunning chutney, and my partner had creamy mushrooms on toast: very good as a vegetarian option.

My main was a huge pizza, very fresh ingredients and not overcooked. My partner's main was duck leg and thick-cut chips, which, while tasty, was a little disappointing as it was a bit plain.

The duck was nicely cooked though and they were really good chunky chips.We had a half-carafe of red wine, which meant we didn't overdrink. The wine's not cheap, with most of the bottles costing over £10, but they've a nice selection.

They also offered us tap water which was a nice touch.We opted to miss the desserts, but the chef brought us a sample of home-made fudge, which features on the menu, and it was truly "to die for".

We had Irish coffees to finish the meal.We'll definitely go back there, and since they do brunch, it's the sort of place you can take friends who are visiting for the weekend and who want something different to do.
