The original and some would argue best of the Match outlets this Clerkenwell drinking hole bears little resemblance to it’s St Margaret Street off-spring Matchbar

However the drinks are up to the usual Match excellence and the bar draws a mixed crowd of city suits and student types who merrily while away the hours sipping expertly whipped up cocktails Credited with helping make the cocktail trendy in London once again, the Dick Bradsell menu and dextrous skills of the bar staff make this an excellent choice for a good session. The blue walls and large glass windows give Match an airy feel while the slightly beaten up but incredibly comfy sofas ensure it’s superb place to kick back and relax

The food menu is just as good – easy, tasty bites which don’t hurt the pocket. The delicious Cuban burger I tried (blend of fresh beef and chorizo sausage, topped with roasted tomatoes and dill pickle served with fries) was stomach fillingly good and a nice change from the usual bland, bar fodder

All in all well worth a visit, you’ll never want to leave!
