Royal Gunpowder Mills Fireworks Display

Celebrate Bonfire Night in magnificent style with the fireworks display at Royal Gunpowder Mills, when the historic site on the banks of the River Lea hosts a weekend packed full of Guy Fawkes related events.

The Guy Fawkes Experience
Promising a fascinating day out for all the family, the Guy Fawkes Experience gives everyone the chance to revisit the famous story of the plot to blow up the parliament of King James I. Attractions include short theatre productions, period characters and 17th century soldiers, as well as craft workshops for kids. Each day concludes with a spectacular fifteen minute fireworks display at Royal Gunpowder Mills in a traditional tribute to the thwarting of the Gunpowder Plot.

Fairground rides
As darkness falls and the night draws in, the events for Bonfire Night step up a gear with fairground rides for kids at the funfair, as well as live music to entertain all ages. Keep warm ahead of the fireworks display at Royal Gunpowder Mills with hot food and drinks from the barbecue and bar, or step inside the venue's newly refurbished cafe for more hearty fare.

Fireworks finale
The final flourish to the each day's events will be the colourful fifteen minute fireworks display at Royal Gunpowder Mills. The crowd pleasing display is being organised by the award winning SM Art Pyrotechnics, who have previously looked after displays for Alton Towers and Glasgow City Council.

Historic site
Located on the banks of the River Lea close to Waltham Abbey, the Royal Gunpowder Mills has a connection to explosives that reaches back into the 17th century. From the site's production of gunpowder during the Crimean War its 20th century role as a scientific research facility, the mills' dramatic history makes it the perfect history to mark the 406th anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot.

The Guy Fawkes Experience takes place from 2pm - 7pm, Saturday 5th November - Sunday 6th November 2011. The fireworks display starts at 6pm on both days.

The Guy Fawkes Experience and fireworks display at Royal Gunpowder Mills is included in the standard admission price. Tickets cost £8.50 for adults and £6.00 for children aged 3 - 15. Admission is free for kids under the age of 3.

Advance booking is advised. For more information and to buy admission tickets, call 01992 707370.
