More an institution than a boutique, Browns has been selling labels big and small since first opening its doors in 1970. Doyenne of the hugely successful and widely regarded boutique chain, Joan Burstein, is credited with discovering talents such as McQueen, Galliano, Hussein Chalayan and Commes des Garcons to name but a few and her ever ready fashion-eye and knowledgeable team of staff make Browns an exciting shopping destination. The big labels are all stocked in the airy, multi-roomed South Molton St store, while the more cutting edge and up and coming names can be located across the road in Browns Focus.

Austique stocks beautiful gifts and accessories alongside beautiful feminine fashions from labels such as Markus Lupfer, Alice + Olivia, Mara Hoffman and Zimmerman and has been the jewel in Chelsea’s boutique crown since 2004. The beautifully laid out stores (a second opened last year on Marylebone High Street) also stock a divine range of jackets and dresses under their own label.

Launched by Comme des Garcons designer Rei Kawakubo, Dover Street Market has the chaotic, exciting feel of London’s huge indoor markets whilst housing some of the most diverse names in fashion. Alaia, Peter Pilotto, Ann Demeulmeester and of course Comme des Garcons are just a few of the names that make Dover Street Market one of the capital’s most exciting shopping experiences.
