The genius behind the Bat Out of Hell musical, Jim Steinman, is one of the music industry’s best known figures, as famous for writing the lyrics for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Whistle Down The Wind as he is for his plethora of hits for artists such as Barry Manilow, Celine Dion and Bonnie Tyler. It’s his collaborations with Meat Loaf that are most well know however, with classic tracks such as Bat Out Of Hell, You Took The Words Right Out of My Mouth and Heaven Can Wait bearing witness to Steinman’s songwriting genius.

Although details are yet to be released of exactly what the Bat Out of Hell musical will be like, it should have a new score full of brand new songs from Steinman’s hand as he brings a brand new show to the West End. The musical will be based on the three Bat Out of Hell albums so expect the same themes of love and loss to be transported into the theatre, probably accompanied by the odd motorbike or two.
