Get all indie, club kid style, at the Field Day festival, one of the summer's hottest festivals, celebrating the very finest in alternative music.

Why you should go:
Tired of summer festivals that promise to rock but actually just plod along slowly? Fed up with bands no one’s liked since the ‘80s taking the stage and trying to rock out in toupees? Get your hands on Field Day tickets for an explosion of alternative music - not alternative as in mid-90s Bush and the like, alternative as in bands and DJs that are so far underground they’re practically immersed in magma… or maybe not. Either way, we’re talking crowds rocking out in skinny jeans, not flannel.

Don’t miss:
The line up for 2009 looks pretty good, with some of the best underground and well known acts hitting the Field Day stage. Some seriously good acts are in attendance, including Erol Alkan and DJ Skream so fans of electro, mash-up and dubstep will be in heaven with this line up.

And for those who were up for a proper boogie to some great bands and acts, you're in for a real treat. Four Tet will be making an eagerly anticipated appearance, and they'll be joined by Little Boots, Mystery Jets, The Horrors, James Yorkston, Errors, Malcom Middleton, Apes and Androids and Fennesz, so in 2009, feel free to break out your very best moves on the grass – all you’ll need is for the weather to hold out so you don’t have to get down in the rain.

Chill out:
With all the dancing and partying that went on last year, most needed to relax a bit. The sensible ones headed over to the burlesque tent and feasted their eyes on some lovely performers, while chilling out to tunes courtesy of a brass band on the Victorian Band Stand. They could also grab a bite to eat at the various excellent food stalls around the festival. Much of the food was organic and locally sourced, and this looks set to be the same in 2009 so not only will you be filling your stomach, you’ll be helping out the planet, too. Details of these parts of the festival are yet to be released so please check back for more information.

Reminisce:
If all this up to the moment music is too much for you, Field Day tickets will enable you to take a step back in time to a quieter kind of festival, old school style. You should be able to try your hand (and feet) at a ceilidh, test your luck at a tombola, kick up your heels and go barn dancing, morris dancing or check out a hoedown. There’s loads more things to do (welly throwing, the largest marrow competition) so you’re well sorted whether you’re feeling alternative or antique-y.

The Field Day festival takes place from noon – 10.30pm on Saturday 1st August 2009 in Victoria Park, Hackney. To purchase Field Day tickets please click the Buy Tickets button.
