Beautiful place to spend the Day! Anyone living/ visiting London should make sure they visit Kew! Didnt originally see my self as a plant person, but I was blown away by the huge glasshouses andI learnt a lot too, such as how rubber is harvested, and got to see a banana plantation in the Princess of Wales conservatory! Great place!

We visited Kew Gardens today and there was a sign up to say, 'gardens closed due to bad weather', thats all it said. We had six very unhappy and sad four year olds with us who had been talking about their visit to Kew for days. A member of staff then came out and said the paths were too slippery and too dangerous for visitors. Unbelievable. Surely there are contingency plans in place for this very scenario. I simply cant believe that the gardens do not have available sand or salt to put on the paths in the event of these kinds of weather conditions. Surely they must expect many visitors who come just for the Santa and the other Christmas attractions at this time of year.

We saw dozens of disappointed families and parties of children arriving at the gate and then leaving to go home or somewhere else. I can understand that it might be difficult to treat all the paths, but why not treat just a small section so that the families can enjoy the Christmas attractions as that is what most of them go for at this time of the year. I cant believe that the managers, whoever they are have not thought this through. I really do think heads should roll for this. This is Christmas week, and for many families, this was their Christmas treat, and, in my case, the outing with the six four year olds was my Christmas treat to my grandson and his friends.

We came in two cars, and I also had my visually impaired son with me who was also thoroughly disappointed. Are the managers prepared to compensate us, not just for the disappointment, but also for wasting our time, spoiling our day and the effort we put into getting there. I think some complementary tickets are called for, this is the least that can be done, so that we can go again soon.
