The Tassel Club is not in Pigalle Club any more - it has moved - so we found out when we went a few Fridays ago. We took a chance and turned up hoping to see a Tassel Club show and when the manager offered us free entry we decided to take a chance and go in.
What a nightmare. Horrid food, horrid music and just grim all round.
What a different a few weeks makes to a once prize venue in London.
I cant imagine this place will be open for much longer, sad to see it like that.
We spotted that The Tassel club has moved to East end, to Proud Cabaret
We will probably be going this weekend to check it out.
Disappointed about this lovely venue.

This is the first time I've left a review on one of these sites and the Pigalle is well worth the effort.
Myself and fiancé went to the Pigalle this Saturday gone, after a recommendation from a friend. We went for the meal with show and experienced the musical talents of the Jazz Dynamos.
I run a production & event company and have been to quite a few venues in my time so how did the Pigalle fair on my first visit?
What can I say? The club had a fantastic atmosphere - sumptuous furnishings, wonderfully moody lighting, great choice in pre-show music and a general all round great vibe.
The menu wasn't the biggest choice but then being a set menu, I didn't expect there to be. The food was superb and well worth the cost of the meal. We both had the steak which was cooked to perfection and absolutely faultless.
Being a big cocktail fan I always like to try new ones when out & about and the Passion Pigalle was a good choice. Many cocktails were consumed over the course of the evening and it just got better.
Show time came and the Jazz Dynamos were superb. We were treated to a 5 piece band – 2 singers (1 with percussion), keyboard, strings & drums and the range of music they covered would put many other bands to shame. Across their 3 sets we had jazz, swing, latino, golden oldies and up to date chart music. They really were top notch and covered all types of music with much style and class.
The staff gave great service and always with a smile on their face. Always on hand when you needed them but never in your face or constantly bothering you as some establishments do. We felt welcome and looked after at all times.
So that was it. A top night at a top venue with great food and drink, fantastic entertainment and all round fabulous service.
Will we be back? You bet we will.......!
The staff were great, the cocktails were gorgeous, and the music was fantastic. However the food was not up to scratch I felt it was not worth £45. The starters of prawns were okay, the sea bream main course was burnt and well over cooked, and the dessert was again just okay. Was a real shame.
I would go again just for cocktails and drinks!!
Hello. We hope our review will be helpful for everyone considering going to The Pigalle Club - in particular to The Tassel Club on Friday nights. We have been 4 times now! Each time the show was different, each time we had fun and what really prompted us to write now (rather than after the other 3 times!) is that the food was totally delicious last week! We were prepared for the worst you see - we had read all the reviews and thought maybe it might be mediocre at best but honestly - instead of bracing yourself for bad food - expect a pleasant surprise! Or several if you include the fun show that has been constant in it's variety and standard since we started coming last July.
Let us know if you have a good night - We'd be interested to see if it's just us who have noticed a change in the menu and standard of food - which, to be honest - we never thought was terrible - just a bit 'standard supper club'. We love The Pigalle Club - and will continue to venture in any Friday we are at a loose end. The show is great fun, we have a dance afterwards and still make it home on the last tube because its seconds from Piccadilly Circus. (regent St South exit btw! Took us ages to work that out!) We normally paid £55 for show and dinner - and Ive just seen Tickets are now 1/2 price! Go - enjoy it - it's a really unique experience. Mark
We visited this club, even though we read the reviews here (-0_0-) - and i have to say - we really liked it. Food was so much better than expected - We had great pasta, i know that's not hard to get right but - mains were ok too. It's not the best food Ive had in London but - i actully thought it was reasonable to quite good! We certainly didnt complain on the night. I wonder if the people below actually brought their complaints to the staff on the night - As for the show - we went to a cabaret night there which was funny as hell, stylish and well worth the experience - will definitely take a chance and go back again. Its not cheap, but its by no means as terrible as some of these reviews. You are in the heart of london and to be honest - i think its well worth a visit. Pauline & jon
Music/performers fantastic (mowtown), seating great, atmosphere lovely but please, please do something with the food, or the chef. The starter was like baby food, the lamb was cheap, fatty and undercooked. The desert arrived looking like it had been in a accident. This is London and if The Pigalle doesn't sort this out someone else should copy the idea and do it better! There are few places 40+ can go for a fab night out without it being inundated with 'teenie boppers', so come on Pigalle show us what the place could really be like and sack the chef!
We were at the Peter green and Friends show on 9th Dec 2009.IWe were greeted with a very warm welcome however after that the experience went downhill..The food was very poor value and yes you have to buy veg as an addition!! The cheeseboard was awful and all for just £65. That said it was an experience to see Peter Green....glad to see him out there and performing. Pigalle Club could be soo much better...what a pity.
This was the rip off experience from hell. Starting with a greeter that snarled rather than greeted. Having booked several months in advance for an office party, we arrived to be seated at two separate tables. (no apology). The food was disgusting.....suckling pig was actually 2 slices of pork from the deli.....the roast turkey was a slab of turkey pressed roll.....and would you believe, not a potato to be seen....for £50 for a 3 course meal, you have to purchase vegetables seperately. Desserts were no better! The music was amateur at best - by the time you added in the veg and wine we were looking at £100 per head for absolute garbage!. The restaurant was also dirty and not the place you would expect to take someone in a capital city!
I went to see Beth Orton at The Pigalle Club lastnight and absolutely loved it.
The whole thing was just brilliant, Beth is one of my favourite artists and it was so nice to see her perform in such an intimate venue.
I'd never been to The Pigalle Club before but it was beautiful and much more comfortable than going to see a gig in any of the other dark and dingy venues of similar size in London.
A great night out with superb entertainment from Beth and Rob Moose.
I went to The Tassel Club in The Pigalle Club with some friends last Friday Set 4th and we really went not knowing what to expect.
What a gorgeous venue for a supper club. There was a great atmosphere and some really good music. I think the band was called Ta Mere.
A few of us had dinner and we all thought it was good value for money (£55 for show and dinner) We had a bottle of Tattinger champers and it was only £45.
We thought they made a mistake but no... so we got a second!! What was unusual was everyone seemed part of the show - there were lots of people dressed up in 1940's style and cigarette girls in red satin outfits selling cigars and tassels! I loved it.
Ill definitely make the effort to dress up next time! The show was a mix of burlesque and some circus acts. They said its different every week...but what made the night totally brilliant was the host.
Anyone seen a guy called Dusty something..? Would love to know who he was....Funny, good singer.. a real entertainer. Id definitely go back.
I think its only there one month - but the place was busy and just had a different vibe than any other burlesque or cabaret event we have gone to in the past... so just wanted to recommend it..
We had a great table right in front of the stage for the Viola Wills tribute night, which was fantastic - couldn't fault the venue, the atmosphere or the entertainment.
What we could fault, however, was the food and the service. The waiter breezed past every so often and then brought out the wrong starter (for both of us).
The starter we eventually received was not as described on the menu, however it was tasty enough so we ate it.
The main course was almost cold and nothing special. I had 'a selection of European cheeses' for dessert and was presented with 4 tiny pieces of dried up, waxy cheddar and a minute piece of dried up, tasteless brie.
It was accompanied by 2 slices of toasted brioche with raisins in and a couple of grapes.
After all this, we were presented with a bill which included an 'optional service charge of 12.5%' which came to around £16.
We did not feel inclined to pay this and so departed after having left a more reasonable tip (albeit grudgingly).
I would go back for the music and the atmosphere but not for the food.
Went to hear Sinead O'Connor at the Pigalle Club on Monday.Hearing was impossible due to a drunken woman who screamed and sang out loud during the whole accoustic show.
The management of the club did do nothing at all, despite the clear shouts from the audience indicating that they were very annoyed by this woman.
The staff was either too incompetent or too indifferent, probably the last. The only thing they are definitely interested in is taking your money and let you pay for standing places in a small corridor, which is used by staff during the performance.
This place should be banned for selling non-existing standing places and advertising as a place where you can enjoy music. It is a total ripp-off.
Extraordinarily awful. We paid £45 a head to see/hear Mary Coughlan on St Patrick's Day.
"See" - if you are lucky and have a good table"Hear" - only if the staff decide not to complete ruin the most intimate moments by throwing plates into sinks, talking loudly to each other, slamming doors and rifling through cutlery drawers
Do go to the Pigalle if you don't really care about music and just want to eat average food in what should be a great venue
Don't go if you actually want to appreciate the music you've paid to see
This should be a great supper club hosting fabulous music. Unfortunately the staff/management don't seem to be able to balance the demands of the two without detriment to both.
I too went to the Naturally 7 gig on Wed night (who were great).......however, in the 25 years of going out in London, I have never experienced ANYTHING like the debacle we experienced Wed night with the service & food.
Firstly, our waiter was just RUDE & SO ARROGANT from the off. When we finally were able to hassle the waiter to take our order (after we had been sitting down for 40mins), the food didn't arrive for 1hr30mins by which time the band were into about the fourth number & we were surrounded by people standing up in front of the stage.
The waiter then told us that they had delivered us the wrong order & then took all of our plates away (some of us had started eating!!) 20 mins later they delivered our food, by which time, we just didn't care & wanted to watch the remainder of the show (the food was stone cold anyway).
I have been to the Pigalle on 3 occasions now & each time it has got progressively worse & until they SERIOUSLY get there act together, I for one will never return. If they are happy to rely on tourists alone as punters & scare Londoners away, then they are going the right way about it. Methinks some serious leadership is needed to turn things around!! DON'T GO!!!!!
The worst service I have ever experienced anywhere in London. We had a table for dinner right infront of the stage. Great! The food didnt turn up for two hours nobody came to explain, nobody took orders for drinks we ended up getting our own from the bar!! When the food did turn up it was the wrong order and taken away for another 20 mins!
When the main course arrived it was stone cold, and we dint even get the sweet we ordered!! When we complained to the manager he wasnt intereted! His comment was "what do you expect" Well I know what to expect now and I will NEVER go back.Unbelievably bad experience!! Dont go!!
The Pigalle is a beautifully designed club, and in theory it should be a wonderful musical experience, which once your inside it certainly can be.
However the reason I give The Pigalle club such a bad review is the door staff, in particular one of the girls at the door. She came across rude abnocsious, aggressive, and I saw and heard her giving a customer grief over what seemed to be some personal issues of her own. All I wanted to do was to go outside to have a smoke, but instead I was in the middle of bitching match and had to walk past her shouting from her desk down the stairs at the customer who had just paid to get in.
It all was a bit strange really!
I found the whole thing overwhelming and it put me right off going back to this venue.
Love love love the Pigalle! The atmosphere and sheer style of the place is like nowhere else. We had dinner on the Motown night and got a fab table near the stage (ask at the time of booking and they will accommodate you if they can at no charge). The place is beautiful to look at and bar prices are unexpectedly reasonable - bottles of wine stated at £16, they have around 12 bottles at under £25. The show was fabulous, and it was one of the best nights out I've had in ages.
So why not 5 stars? Well, it isn't quite perfect - the food was delicious, but we waited an age, and at least one person got the wrong dish with each course which is poor when there are only 3 choices per course. Plus our starters were colder than they should have been. The service charge was miles higher than expected - we had pre-paid and forgotten to factor in the service on this (fair), but they levied service on the whole pre-payment despite the fact that a chunk of this was for the show (not fair). And finally - although stage side tables are great to start with, when everyone starts dancing you can't see a thing. Not so much a criticism as something to be aware of.
I would probably only go if I was having dinner as well, as I can quite see why the other reviewers who were unhappy with arrangements for the Suzanne Vega concert would have been uncomfortable squeezed in at the bar - but even with the imperfections I've described, the Pigalle makes a really special night out and I'll definitely be back!
I totally agree with the comments made below. I too went to see Suzanne Vega yesterday evening. You had the choice of paying £60 for dinner + show or £30 for show only. Now I fully accept that those dining would be sitting but I also expected there to be designated areas for standing. There was limited space along a corridor to the back of the room and everyone else was asked to stand at the bar. So basically you are asked to pay £30 to prop up against the bar and then be shoved out of the way by passing waiters every few seconds as they continue to serve the diners. As the view from the bar was terrible, people began chatting loudly throughout the set and all in all, I don't think anybody was happy, the diners were annoyed at having people stand over their tables whilst they ate and with the noise and those standing were appalled that they'd paid to see a show they couldn't really see at all.
The venue should be beautiful but it is spoiled by the way you are treated by staff, the lack of provision made and courtesy shown to those that have paid to be there and the extortionate price of the drinks. A real shame.
Don't pay for standing tickets at this venue. Went here with some friends to see Susanne Vega and the experience was awful. Essentially you are crowded at the back of a restaurant with almost no view of the stage and continuously harassed by irritable waiters ordering you out of their way. All for £30! Not only that but you'll pay £8 for a gin and tonic. If this place allocated room in view of the stage for the standing tickets they sell, halved the price of drinks and employed staff with some actual manners, then maybe it would be worth the money. As it is they are just ripping people off.
I went to Pigalle's as part of a birthday party. I'd been lead to believe that this is a classy, upmarket establishment, so expected the staff to be efficient, yet they seemed to have no idea which area of the club they had previously agreed to reserve for us. They explained that it was a difficult bit of administration for them, as they had 2 reservations that evening. Eventually it turned out to be a tiny corner, next to the toilet. We had a table which could comfortably sit 5 people, leaving our party of 30 rather cramped. The smell from the toilet was fairly overpowering at times and went a long way to ruining the mood of the evening, not to mention the band, who came out with gems like "We're going to play some rubbish songs now, so we can save the good ones for later" (PRO-TIP: Learn more good songs!)
Drink prices are extortionate, which would be acceptable if there was something amazing about the rest of the venue. Sadly there isn't.
I feel that 1 star is a little generous, sadly the website won't let me choose 0.
I had read some bad reviews of the Pigalle Club after I booked dinner there for my other half's birthday. If I had read the reviews before booking I would have gone elsewhere but I am very glad I didn't.
The staff were very friendly, polite and efficient. The food was good, certainly had far worse for the same or more money. Drinks were expensive but again no more than most places.
I will go back to Pigalle when there is someone playing who I want to see and feel like treating myself. Oh and my other half liked the place as well.
I went to the Pigalle Club for a friends birthday (she was performing there for the occaision) and it was fantastic! She and her band deinitely made the evening, but the house band was also upbeat and funky. There were loads of people there, but it wasn't over crowded.
Also there were loads of attractive people at Pigalle. You feel very classy when you go there, but make sure you get others to pay, it's way expensive!
The Pigalle Club was quite a disappointing night out. The band was great, the food was okay and some of the staff were moderately friendly. However a very unfriendly and rude bar manager managed to make the experience very unpleasant. Some confusion over drinks prices prompted a really unprovoked tirade from this man which was extremely upsetting. And it didn't stop there - he made sure to approach us again at the end of the night as we waited in the cloakroom queue to make some more snide remarks!
London is a very busy place at this time of the year but I have never come across as rude a person working in bar or club as this man. I would advise not going to Pigalle Club unless you want to be treated like a piece of dirt on someone's shoe!
I celebrated my 30th birthday at The Pigalle Club on Saturday night and thought the place was amazing! Although we had a small confusion at the beginning with my tables they were soon sorted out.
The service was a little amateur but the food at The Pigalle Club was great - despite me being worried about this due to several bad reviews I had read. The band were amazing and everyone got up to dance. We had two great tables and although the bill was high it was worth it for the special occassion.
I'd say don't be put off by the bad reviews...if you want a great night out with sophistication and something different then try The Pigalle!
If the music at The Pigalle Club was nice and the surroundings quite charming, the standard of the food was appalling! Industrial pate they named foie gras to start, hardly edible fishes as a main. For the sake of our stomach, we did not even bother to see what dessert means to the chef.
The service at The Pigalle Club was really poor, we hardly saw a smile, we almost felt like apologising to be there. Of course, everything was over-priced (we should even be paid to eat that food). We felt sorry for the dating couples around. What a waste of time and money!
I loved The Pigalle Club! The place is so cute and retro, which is really in at the moment. It really felt like forties New York. The Pigalle Club has a great band and the drinks were all fabulous. Some of the clientelle were a little odd, but then you would get that any where in London I guess. But I think that Pigalle rocks!
We were at The Pigalle Club last Saturday.
The evening was made by the band who were fantastic - especially the pianist who played rollicking boogie woogie and blues. The Pigalle Club dance floor was filled with stylish dancers, the staff were friendly and the cocktails were delicious.
Not sure why everyone has to slate a club which is trying to do something different in London. If The Pigalle Club is good enough for Anna Friel to spend her birthday in it can't be that bad, can it? I was hoping to spend my 30th birthday there. Has anyone got anything good to say about The Pigalle Club?
The Pigalle Club is full of tourists - don't bother going.
The food at The Pigalle Club isn't too bad but it is overpriced, and we were asked to order our dessert at the same time as mains and starters, being told that otherwise it would take ages. Service was generally offhand.
From The Pigalle Clubs marketing we had expected somewhere a little more friendly, a little more sophisticated, and relaxed. This is a place with potential sadly unfulfilled. While the interior works, the booking policy is fine, they now have to work on the food and the customer service.
What a terrible place. The venue itself has potential but the acts were dull and the food terrible. It was a Saturday night when I went but it was pretty empty. Even the couples that were on dinner dates left once they had finished their food.
The Pigalle Club sadly lacks atmosphere and I can't imagine it lasting long. Not worth the effort.
The Pigalle Club is glamorous and plush - but not that lively. Good for couples, less for groups. The PIgalle Club isn't a club as such - its a bit of everything.
The food is very poor, the portions were small and overpriced. There are much better places to eat. I'd only return for civilised drinks.
I was at the Pigalle Club last Saturday at the pre-launch and, what an amazing night! The staff were very friendly and attentive, the decor was nice and the food was outstanding.
If I was to improve the Pigalle Club I would have kept the live music going for a bit longer and maybe have a more burlesque theme running through (like having the staff in GI uniforms) and keep the atmosphere going for longer, but having said that it was a great experience and we definitely will be back.
I just can't wait for the Pigalle Club to open, from the press I've read about it, it sounds like it'll be out of this world. I love the sound of a forties style diner with live music and dancing! I'll be down Pigalle Club when it opens, defnitely!
