I have never been to a bar where the staff are so rude. If we asked for the simplest of things, like a drink or a knife and fork, we either got ignored or scowled at by the men behind the bar.
True, the drinks are the cheapest around, but I wouldn't put myself through such a negative experience again. Absolutely horrible place, and I couldn't wait to leave!
101 is the ideal place for a funny girly night out. The door men are hilarious and friendly and I have never seen them act aggressively or rudely. Ditto with bar, cloakroom and loo staff. The people are never prententious and always there just to have fun. Can definately sympathise with the comment about the men refusing to take no for an answer, but they're always harmless guys often tourists who want to dance with an english girl. I always find that the men at 101 add to the humour of the night and every so often you meet someone worthwhile.
I also have many male friends who love the vibe and it's always a secure back up plan when a night runs dry elsewhere. The only person who claimes to hate the place is my boyfriend, but I have totallly seen him having a wild time on the dance floor.
Oh yeah and the cocktails are amazing and not too expensive. I recommend the hazlenut martini :)
I went to 101 last saturday and really liked it.
Kool atmosphere, delicious cocktails, awesome music, friendly staff and lots of relaxed people to talk to.
The only bad point was one of the doormen that got a bit too "friendly" and close.
I went to 101 bar with my girlfriend last night, and had a good night. The bouncers here are very relaxed and nice compared to alot of bouncers in other bars/clubs in london.
The drinks are also reasonably priced, which i wasn't expecting due to the free entry. The only bad point was the dj who kept playing tunes from 2001 - 2003!!
No recent tunes were played, but eventually we just got used to it. Ill deffo be going back
Ok, firstly, if I could rate this bar any lower than 1 stars I would give it -5! Like someone else said, they got knocked and told that it was 'couples night'.
This of course is a complete load of bu****it!!!!It almost ruined our night out, but luckily I had plan B and C :D.
We eneded up going to a club called walkabout. This was alright, had a good dance, I would give that place 3 stars.
So yes, if you plan on taking a visit to bar 101, DO NOT, because you will most likely be dissapointed!!
The staff were really nice and friendly, the people were lovely and very sociable and unpretentious. The service was excelllent and the cocktails just fab! The music was a well-balanced mix, which was great. I highly recommend it.
I have been to bar 101 a few times. Mostly on a Friday night and I have always enjoyed my time there. Lindy, the blonde DJ always rips out a good selection of funky disco, pop, rnb tunes and is a good venue to go for a dance and a few drinks.
Yes the dance floor does get busy as does the seating areas.
well me and my sis go to 101 quite alot now we usually go on friday evenings always have great time apart from one annoying factor and thats that some men in there just wont take NO i dont want to dance for answer but i dont let it ruin our nights which are always to date very good so yes a good place to go in my opinion
I Was extremely disappointed. My friend and i wanted to go for a drink after work at the 101 bar as he was going away on holiday.. then at the door, the bouncer was pretending to be the manager and saying members ONLY ... just behind us 4 guys just walked in without even a look and when i ask him to show me his card which was suspended on his shoulder, and he told us to go away ...
Sad isn't it !!!!
So we decided to go to PIZZA EXPRESS JAZZCLUB in SOHO where we spent a wonderful evening .. classy environment , and great staff
And no barking dog at the door !!
My recommendation....101 bar to be avoided if possible...
ps: oOps.. !!! sorry this setting doesn't allow me to rate lower than 1 star...
enjoy !!
I visited 101 Bar recently and last November. They just managed to pull off with the decor by implanting huge chandliers. The seating area upstairs is good for a chat. The dance floor was small and crowded, but not overheated like many other bars/clubs. It could do with some disco lighting. The prices of drinks and achohol are reasonable for central London.
The age group of the crowd are mostly late 20's. The DJ on my recent visit played popular RnB classics, should update his songs from a personal opinion. Overall, I had a good time on both occassions and wouldn't mind going back to 101 Bar.
Staff at 101 Bar could not care less about the customers! They are just money collectors and do not deliver any customer service. They are arrogant, slow and not friendly at all. The waiter that served us did not say a word to us, didn't smile, or say thank you! And the bar was not busy at all, as it was a Monday!
We ordered some nachos that were also just placed on the table without a word again. I found 101 Bar very cool and indeed very cold. And finally, what really crossed me was that he looked dissapointed when did not tip him!
The 101 bar and me get along just fine, it serves me drinks, I act like a total idiot, much like most relationships then! I'd recommend the 101 bar to anyone looking for a good night with lots of alcohol!
